Nope, [David Sylvian](http://www.davidsylvian.net/). There’s a link to the commercial on his website; unfortunately, he only recorded the short clip you hear on the commercial and not the whole song.

He’s a little bit obscure and does a lot fo Japanese collaborations but he’s got the most amazing world weary voice…

Upon further thaought:

When I was a teenager( Yeah 4000 yrs ago to here my kid talk) the deep DEEP voice in The Oakridge Boys would turn me to a pile of quivering teen aged goo.

And Ya know I just adore Harry Belafonte… sigh…

Sting and Luther, oh my yes – I’m with you, **PunditLisa**.
Placido Domingo.
Thomas Hampson.
Billie Holiday.
Clay Aiken (shut UP – his “here, there and everywhere” is meltingly lovely).

But above all – and I cannot beLIEVE that no one else has mentioned him – the king of the knee-weakeners, Francis Albert Sinatra.

Debbie Harry. I think I had my first sexual crush on a woman when I saw Debbie Harry on the Muppets. It was the day after my birthday, and I was eleven years old. I’m serious, this moment had a profound effect on me. After that, I would hear her voice and pop me a nice little pre-teen woody. Scary, what effect that voice had.

I don’t get turned on by men’s voices, but there is one song sung by a man that has got to be my favorite sex song of all time. It’s “Swing It Low”, sung by Mark Sandman (if there’s a God, Mark, you’re in the celestial band) of Morphine. Basically, it makes me think of gettin’ busy. Plus, it’s a fucking awesome song. Or an awesome fucking song?

That’s my pick. She may still have the voice too, heard her sing a song called boom, boom in the zoom zoom room a couple of years back. Still does it for me.

Another vote for k.d. lang. _Because_ she’s a lesbian 😉 .

And Freddie Mercury. Still. ::holds up lit lighter briefly::

Ah, nice choice.

In a similar vein, I must also list [Cristina Scabbia](http://www.emptyspiral.net/modules.php?set_albumName=General&id=040821cristina_scabbia_l1&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php) of Lacuna Coil and [Tarja Turunen](http://www.celebritypicturesarchive.com/pgs/n/Nightwish/Nightwish%20picture_002.htm) of Nightwish. Not only are their voices amazing, but they are both drop dead gorgeous.

Another vote for Michael Hutchenson of INXS, and, uh, also Max Q. I’m one of approximately 12 people in the world to own the complete works of Max Q (i.e. the self-titled debut album.)

Also, Chris Isaac. Mmmm.

I’m gonna be the second person here to say Amy Lee of **Evanescence**. My GOD, can that girl sing. Go listen to “My Immortal” and tell me you don’t want to have sex with her…go on…you can’t do it, can you? I thought not.

**Trent Reznor** of Nine Inch Nails isn’t just brilliant and hot, the things he does with his voice – from a raspy scream of “Head Like a Hole” to the soft creepy tension of “Hurt”. He’s phenomenal. Besides, the lyrics to “Closer” are some of the greatest ever.

_I wanna f!ck you like an animal…_

Pretty much says it all, no? And then, just in case you had any doubt what that means, he comes back and says: _I wanna feel you from the inside_.

**David Draiman** from Disturbed rocks my world. On one song, “The Sickness”, I simply can’t believe he did all the vocals. His voice slides effortlessly from smooth and sexy to roaring and demonic.

Perhaps a bit of a highjack, but… for me, it’s the particular track/single comprising the right voice plus the right lyric plus the right production plus… (well, you get it) that makes me feel all squooshy inside. (And it’s obvious I haven’t updated my CD collection lately. Argh.)

Roy Orbison - _Running Scared_
Peter Gabriel and Paula Cole - their _Secret World Live_ duets
Bruce Springsteen - _Thunder Road_ and _Jungleland_
Andrea Bocelli - _Con Te Partiro_ (no - thank you - I really don’t need to hear the _Time to Say Goodbye_ version with Sarah Brightman)

and

Louis Armstrong - _Beautiful World_. (Didn’t hurt that my young cousin - a classically trained singer - sang this, my Dad’s favorite song, at my Dad’s funeral.

End of slight highjack.

Cheers.

Well, if we’re doing a single, perfect song:

Prince, _Damn U_.

I broke up with a guy I’d been with three years because I realized every time I heard this song (and I was listening to that album constantly), I was thinking of a guy I hadn’t seen in 10 years, not him.

Uh, one more. A _set_ of voices…

Bulgarian State Radio Women’s Choir - start with _Erghan Diado_ from _Les Mystere des Voix Bulgares_

I first heard this choral group on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. (We miss you, Johnny!)

As the one who first mentioned her, I feel honor bound to post (in case myt wife ever sees this) that while I very much enjoy the sound of her voice, I have no desire for sex with her.

and add

Enya
Charlotte Church (hey, I think she’s legal now!)
and I am shocked no one has mentioned- Julee Cruise (the TWIN PEAKS singer).
