I voted embarassment, because he doesn’t look at all like the emotion he’s supposed to represent.
I mean, check him out: :o
He looks more like he’s practicing for jack-o-lanternship, and hasn’t gotten it quite right yet.

Same here. I don’t know what emotion :o is conveys to me, but it sure isn’t embarrassment.

I think they are all crap. They contribute to communication in much the same way that condoms contribute to reproduction.

My rule is that if your post is even a little bit confrontational (i.e. most GD and pit threads), using _any_ smiley at all makes you look like an asshole and brings down the level of discourse. No exceptions.

Too true. I thought it would get more votes. EVERYTHING it touches turns to shit. Even if I think the poster said something cool or interesting or relatively innocuous, if they put the rolleyes there it makes me want to punch them so hard. It pushes it all over the edge.
