Taking into account what spritle posted: “Now, to the point. We tend to like original tunes more than re-makes solely because we hear them first. This song, melody, rhythm, etc. gets “implanted” in our minds and it becomes the benchmark for all subsequent songs.”
I’d agree that for the songs mentioned above (except “Spiderman theme” and “My Way”) I definitely prefer the one I heard first, but in most cases I heard the remake first. It could be due to my not-so-advanced age. Perhaps which you heard first is generational.
