> This sounds like pot logic, my friend! Where you high when you reached this epiphany? 'Cause I’ve had lots of those. 😃

That is quite amazing, because I also smoke a lot of weed and have never experienced this phenominon that people claim of weed giving you “stupid thoughts”.

Researchers Find Minimal Long-Term Effects of Marijuana Use
An analysis of research studies with long-term, recreational users of marijuana has failed to reveal a substantial, systematic effect on the neurocognitive functioning of users. According to researchers at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, the only deleterious side effect found was a minimal malfunction in the domains of learning and forgetting.

Contrary to the popular opinion- if you are acting stupid, it is because you are stupid, not because weed is making you act that way…

Hmm, I hadn’t taken it as a putdown, actually. :smack: Did I misinterpret?

> One of your fellow engineers did point out that slug was the unit of mass in the non-metric system. I’ve never heard of a mass pound, and if there were such a thing, I would guess it would be calibrated to earth’s gravity. That is a “mass” pound would weigh about an avordupois pound. Do you have any kind of cite, or are you just repeating something your big brother told you once? 😛

Sorry I took a while to respond to this. No, pound mass is fairly common. The Earth exerts one pound force on one pound mass at sea level. Thus, you need a 32.2… conversion factor when you do convert from mass to force (at sea level). Slugs are defined such that one pound force is 1/32.2 slugs at sea level, thus ounds force are slugs\*ft/s^2.

As I had said, this all arises from people coming up with a unit for force before they understood gravity well enough. As far as a cite, I would reference my time Aerospace Engineering Doctorate, but [this](http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/units/dictP.html) should work too. You get confused by what people mean enough times and you start always writing lbm and lbf instead of lb.
