# White House Garden - such a great idea

I’ve been pretty impressed with the White House garden. They’re using it to get kids interested in gardening and encourage them to eat what they plant.
I noticed in this clip they have some raised beds. I guess to get a better mix of soil. It’s easier on the back too.

I recall 4H Clubs from when I was a kid. Such a great program to get kids out of the house and doing something active. I’d like to see more emphasis on getting gardens planted on city property. I wish some of the governors mansions would sponsor gardens too.
The excess vegetables from the White House garden goes to local food shelters. A win win all the way.

I read somewhere about the materials. They brought in crab-shell compost, IIRC. That’s not a material available in most parts of the country.
