I don’t understand your first sentence at all. As for the second one, I think I should have a cow when these types of attitudes are displayed. What in these teenagers’ experience would lead them to believe that this sort of thing is acceptable? And if I ignore it, will others also come to believe that it’s acceptable?

Can we put this strawman to death? No one has advocated legal action. As utterly despicable as this particular party is, no one is saying that it should be illegal for people to hold private parties and exclude whoever they want.

If they don’t go back, then these teenagers as well as others may come to believe that racial segregation is a viable option. And that is nothing short of harmful.

I find it amusing that the "RACIALLY TOLERANT " defenders of the truth are so strident in their beliefs and everyone who does not totally agree with them is wrong or worse. I can’t believe after _four fucking pages_ of this shit that there are morons who still can’t get it through their head that **no one is trying to force these kids to not have their racist prom.** This came up in the _fourth fucking post_ in this thread and you fucking numbnuts _still_ haven’t realized that **no one is advocating that position.** Jesus fucking Christ!

The article plainly states that most students, both black and white, will be attending the school sponsored prom. If a few jerks want to go to a private party instead, and call that a “prom” that’s their call, and their misfortune.

Here’s the problem folks: _“As the black junior class president, her son helped organize the open-to-all prom. The class also has a white president.”_

The problem is that there are school sponsored “black” and “white” class presidents. WTF??? What is this teaching students of either race?  
It’s teaching them that if you don’t like the way a legal election turns out, just bitch and you can have the results skewed to suit your taste.

There is no way to control the off-campus actions of splinter groups of students, but this dual presidents thing is _School Sponsored and Approved!_ The school administration should be ashamed for allowing the travesty of dual class presidents to exist.

Welcome to the 21st century - the era of anti-cancer drugs, of black female top advisors to the president, and of racism being alive and well.

There will be two proms: the official one (the ‘black’ prom) and a private one, both of which are being advertised in the school. Only white students will be allowed to attend the latter.

I’m sorry, explain to me one more time how this is _not_ racist?

Can they be sued for doing this? No, because they have every fucking right to say “We don’t want your type here.” Are they racist? Yes. I just…don’t see how they could not be.

Should there be some sort of government/legal action? Government action, no, because they are having a private prom. Legal action…probably not.

Speaking as a current high school senior: if someone tried this type of utterly stupid bullshit at my school, I sure as hell would go to the official “black” prom, primarily because my boyfriend is black and I have no desire to associate with those who would exclude him for that reason. I’d also be busily doing everything I can to explain to the poor, ignorant, rabbit-shit-brained idiots that yes, you are racist fucks.

Of course, this all goes to support my theory that proms are the most fucking rediculous wastes of money ever, and as I did not go to my own (fully integrated, mind you) junior prom, feel free to dismiss my opinions.

What is this bs about only permitting whites to attend? No one is “permitted” to attend a private party. People are invited to a private party. Those that haven’t been invited, don’t attend. Simple, really.

If somebody has a wedding and invites 300 of their closest family and friends, and all the invitees are white, is the wedding then racist?

Are you intentionally being a facetious prick?

It’s a private party set up for the specific purpose of excluding black people.

If I throw a party, and invite all of my friends, all of whom happen to be white, it’s not racist.

If a friend of mine thows a party, and tells me to bring a friend, but no black people, that’s racist.
