Further off-topic, but my absolute favorite Clarence Thomas moment was in his _People_ magazine spread when he was coming under fire during the Anita Hill story. One of the photos was of him and his wife lying on the sofa in their home reading a great big Bible. Staged much? Just a tad maybe. (Later Glen Campbell and his family went him a few better by being in _People_ with the whole family on a canopied bed while paterfamilas Glenn read the Good Book to them. (A bit [more recently](http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/gcampbell1.html) he was arrested for drunk driving. hitā€™nā€™run, and assault on an officer.) ---

Well in fairness, Falwell apologized. Sort of. Several days later. After saying it was taken out of context. The entire speech. And after heā€™d caught hell even from Rush Limbaugh and other conservatives. Soā€¦ uhā€¦ I believe he wasā€¦ sorryā€¦ OK, of course I donā€™t. (Though I do have more respect for Falwell than I do for Robertson, who said at the time ā€œWell, I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our governmentā€, then actually claimed after the fallout and while holding a straightface that he didnā€™t know what Falwell was talking about.) ---

Bush will just pick some party hack who helped him win the election, who is far to the right, deep into Christianity, is against abortion, and is young enough to sit on the US SC for a few decades. ---
