Who are the people in your neighborhood?

I live a couple of blocks from Ernest Hemingway’s birthplace, but I think he actually lived somewhere else in town. The house he was born in belonged to his grandfather. But his name is on the WWI memorial in Scoville park, which is nearby, and he attended the high scool down the street.

Also, the last I heard, actor John Mahoney lives somewhere around here.

Judy Tenuta used to live in Oak Park, and I once saw her walking down the street with Emo Phillips, but that was years ago.

I was born in Oak Park, on Marion Street. But I’m not famous.

However, in my sleepy little town of Cary, in the woods right next to my house, was the home of the Curtis candy family. Years after they had moved out, and while I lived a good 20 miles from here, I dated a guy who lived in the house. Little did I know me & Mr. K would be a couple and live right next door.

Anyhoo, the house went into disrepair and was abandoned. Then teenagers drank beer and smoked cigarettes in it and it burned to the ground. I do have a couple photos of Kid Kalhoun playing outside it when he was a wee tyke. It wasn’t lavish, but it is my mini brush with fame.

Didn’t Frank Lloyd Wright live in Oak Park as well for a lot of years? I know his home is a big tourist attraction.
