My hope is that he will return to form and melt down after a debate with some sort of epic twitter shit storm directed at one of the moderators, or that he will go attack someone that the public might sympathize with. The two times that Trump has tanked has had nothing to do with Hillary, but had everything to do with him, and we’re not even talking about the myriad garden variety scandals associated with Trump that the media really should be talking about.
Hillary’s campaign, not necessarily Hillary herself, probably needs to start getting into the gutter a little bit. There’s plenty of material to work with that would leave any rational person asking “Is Trump the kinda guy I’d leave alone with my daughter?” Maybe go there.
If this election is about Clinton, Trump will win.
If this election is about Trump, Clinton will win.
Both candidates have decided this election should be about Trump.
Not kill it off, but certainly change it in ways that give people like me no home. Thank goodness Trump has failed to get anyone like him nominated downballot. The establishment and the Tea Party are still the only players downballot. The last thing we need is a third faction.
The candidates have already jumped into the mud voluntarily, why sling any at each other? No, I think the best approach is to pleasantly surprise voters with positivity and competence. Clinton did that at the convention but has since drowned in a series of bad media cycles. Trump only seems to pleasantly surprise people by shutting up. The funny thing is they have opposite political strategies right now. He should be hunkering down, since his numbers actually seem to go up when he’s not in the headlines and she’s actually capable of making voters consider her acceptable for the Presidency. But not when she lets the media control the narrative as she’s doing now.
Trump TV will make a new faction in the coming elections – the alt-right (also known as white supremacists) will have a place to thrive and grow and proselytize on TV. Possibly.
Yes, and Trump as President will have a lot of influence. Republicans in Congress generally lay down for their Presidents. The Republican Congress approved massive spending under Bush, so who knows what they’ll do to try to help Trump be successful?
This is where a guy like Paul Ryan really needs to step up, to cooperate with Trump in areas where they agree but to also pass conservative legislation he might not want. If Mike Pence is really going to be running things in areas where Trump has little interest(as in, everything but immigration and trade) then hopefully this won’t be a problem. Pence is as conservative as they come.
