Lemmon / Matthau took a great comedy set-up and pulled out every chuckle it had, but the TV series actually allowed Randall-Klugman [or Klug-All to use their Brangelina name] to explore the comedy of the broader premise of newly single men, odd couples and all the rest. Its still text-book situation comedy.
