My first set of living room furniture was bought from an older couple. A family friend knew them and learned they were preparing for a garage sale. I bought a sofa, chair, and an end table. It was nice furniture that held up well for years.
I’d have concerns today about bedbugs. I wouldn’t buy from anyone except a family friend or friend of a friend.
