There are already a couple of amateur efforts to make a \*\*Jonathan Coulton \*\*musical ([Artificial Heartache](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/409736472/artificial-heartache-a-jonathan-coulton-musical-fi) and one based around Code Monkey) but I think there’s potential for one there if one could find enough upbeat songs in his catalogue (and there aren’t as many as you’d think). It might be easier if you make it a joint JoCo/Paul and Storm musical - more to choose from, more upbeat songs and all in a similar vein.

I’m not the guy to figure out what story line it should have, but I’d probably go see a jukebox musical featuring the songs of The Manhattan Transfer.
ETA: Was Baz Luhrmann’s _Moulin Rouge_ qualified to be considered a jukebox musical?

I’ve always had a dream of producing a Cherry Poppin’ Daddies musical, which would largely be set in the [Pink Elephant](https://youtu.be/iFPLW4TX3jY) and feature characters like Sleazy P. Martini, [Mister White Keys](https://youtu.be/w5ennvZfh30), [The Ding Dong Daddy of the D-Car Line](https://youtu.be/tiyWTqvI1b4) and have big dance numbers like [Zoot Suit Riot](https://youtu.be/1IqH3uliwJY) and [Brown Derby Jump](https://youtu.be/EtTK5Bddzf8). It would make millions 🙂

I would image some of these people have asked to have a jukebox musical done for their music, but have refused for various reasons. Remember, if you can’t get the musical rights, you have no musical.

Didn’t anyone mention that Across the Universe is essentially what you guys are talking about? I didn’t see it if it were.
An easy movie would be any of the album releases by the Drive By Truckers. The movie I would really wanna see would wanna see the movie made from Apostrophe and Overnite Sensation by Frank Zappa. The world really needs a Zomby Woof movie.

+1 for Little Feat from the OP; that was my immediate first-response before I’d read that far.
Nine Inch Nails would be easy, but depressing as hell.
Violent Femmes, Lou Reed, Camper Van Beethoven, Joe Jackson, Garbage, James Brown and ZZ Top all come to mind.
R.E.M. would be either really easy or really difficult, depending upon whether the narrative-crafter thought s/he understood WTH Stipe was saying (literally–like, the text of the lyrics) and/or meant.

Metallica. Formation from a music add. Scrappy Upstarts get some traction. Fire member(Who forms another influential band). Requisite death of member (Cliff Burton RIP). Goes on to attain world wide fame.
Pantera. ( A Brother’s Story) Same as above. Substitute drug addiction breaking the band at their height. Murder on stage of a beloved member and multiple people. Grieving brother goes on to form new band only to die…

It would sort of require a reconciliation and new album (for a happy ending), but I think you could make a decent musical of The Kinks’ story. Lots of great tunes and no shortage of drama, that’s for sure.
