I left my oldest son and husband back here in California and flew back to my mom’s in New Jersey with my youngest son to spend the holidays with family and friends out there.
We always celebrate Christmas Eve at my mother’s house. This year I spent it with:
My youngest son
My mother
One of my mother’s co-worker’s and his partner
My 2 younger sisters
One sister’s boyfriend
My 5 year old nephew
My aunt (mother’s sister) and uncle.
My ex - The father of my children
His son - my boys’ (half) brother, he just turned 18 and joined the Army.
My mother’s boyfriend and his family - about 10 people total, his brother, sister, nieces, etc. I only spoke to the younger members of the group as the older folks don’t speak English and I don’t speak Portuguese.
My ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend (who is the ex-wife of another ex-boyfriend of mine and who I had a brief fling with myself. Gotta love a small town.)
And a bunch of friends, 5 total, plus one friend’s family - her husband and two children ages 3 and 1.
So, if I’m not forgetting anyone (which I might be) it was about 32 people total - 27 adults, 3 children under five, 2 teenagers, and a partridge in a pear tree.
It was a great time. My mother always throws an awesome party and this year was no exception. I’m glad I went back and got to see everyone.
