Well, if it was in Washington state and his dad’s name was Ron, his dad was thinking ‘Mike Hunt, that’s some funny shit!’ Oh, how Rabbit\* would laugh at the funny, funny joke he played on his son.
\*That’s what we called Ron for some reason; I wonder if his dad thought Rabbit Hunt would be the funniest thing on earth…

It may not be unusual, but I bet the other kids make jokes and tease, no matter how it’s parsed. Bathroom jokes are par for the course in any elementary school or middle school in the country, especially where boys are present, and unless the girl is so stunningly beautiful and wonderful that the whole school is half in love with her, she will be teased. if she has the misfortune to be even a tiny bit odd or geeky or overweight, it’ll be worse.

This is not a cite, but this exchange caught my eye because I remember about 15 years ago seeing an interview with a really big tough former football player and I am pretty sure it was Dick Butkus. The interviewer said, “So, did you ever get teased about your name?” and he just looked at the interviewer, waited a beat, and said, “No.” He didn’t seem annoyed by the question – it was like such an idea was so preposterous that he didn’t even have to explain. It was like, “Look at me. I’m Dick Butkus. No.”
