Scanning across the names before me, images arose; The first one was a wily-looking man, with a sharp nose and a laughing mouth, a shock of straw hair and dressed in Orange, red and brown. He would write you into a parody. I knew him, his name was **Fenris** Next, there was the passive countenance of **Coldfire** , dark hair hanging long, blue eyes containing neither passion or compassion. Forged by hardships, and dependent on his own strengths. His self control is legendary. Then comes the swarthly, dark-eyed coutenance of **Libertarian** , dressed all in satin that was black and green, wearing a dark three-cornered hat set at a rakish angle, a green plume of feathers trailing down the back. He is standing in profile, one arm akimbo, and the toes of his boots curled upwards. There is ambivalence in my heart. Then there was **Eutychus**. Handsome by anyone’s standards, his hair was so dark as to be almost blue. His beard curled around a mouth that always smiled. His hands, thumbs hooked behind the belt, were terribly strong and prominent. I studied him and I feared him somewhat. Then there was **Darwins Finch** , tall and dour, thin; think of body, thin of face, wide of mind. He wore orange and yellow and brown and reminded me of haystacks and pumpinks and scarecrows and _The Legend of Sleepy Hollow_. Then came a firey bearded, flame-crowned man, dressed all in red and orange, mainly of silk stuff, and he held a sword in his right hand and a glass of wine in his left. The devil himself danced behind his eyes, blue as the sky. His chin was slight, but the beard covered it. This I knew was **Esprix**. The next figure wears a riding suit of green and sits upon a white horse. There is a quality of both strength and weakness, questing and abandonment about him. I approved and disaprove, liked and am repelled by, this one. His name is **december** A little SDMB preserved in _Amber_. 😉 ---

tend not to picture people much, but apologies, i’ll try. i think… Matt wears black nail polish and has a floppy fringe which hangs into his eyes when he rides the metro. Kal looks sort of like a cross between Lovejoy/David Essex/ the man from bargainhunters. but in a good way. Washte is tall and dark with dimples when she smiles. Cjhoworth wears square glasses with black frames and bites her lip when she’s typing. Polycarp has a halo and wears wooly aran jumpers and cords. Qadgop looks like Dr Cox from scrubs. Eve wears little black Chanel suits and silk stockings. Biggirl has a smile that lights up the room and a laugh that deafens. Ryan\_Liam is tall, thin and wears a parka. iampunha is a surfer with a dazed expression and a goofy grin. ---

While not a SpiderMan, I am a man… 😃 I always picture **Kn\*ckers** as a large breasted petite redhead woman with an inability to find blouses that stay fastened. **Libertarian** reminds me of a teacher I once had: Dark haired with a moustache, thin but not spindly, on the tall side but by no means physically imposing or deformed, with a perpetual twinkle in his eye and always willing to engage the whole class in spirited, good-hearted debates. I respect the man immensely, as I respect Lib. **Zev Steinhardt** reminds me of the traditional Hasidic Jew: Long salt-and-pepper beard, prominent earlocks like strands of drawn silver, small glasses perched on an avian nose, intricately woven yarmulke, eyes sparking with humor and inner knowledge. A wise _rabbi_ in the teacher or leader sense of the word. **FairyChatMom** is a Soccer Mom (as defined in a few dictionaries now… :)): 5’9" or so, dark-haired, somewhat overweight from a raging chocolate addiction (:)), wears conservative clothes, usually, but can cut loose with sparkles and bright colors. Drives a minivan or SUV and probably has a second car in a Mazda or a Ford. **OpalCat** is the kind of girl every hacker wants to meet: Free-spirited and artistic with a love of exotic foods and open-source \*nixes. Sits in a lotus position with a laptop balanced on her knees, in old jeans and a tux t-shirt, in deep hack mode, working on a bug in Emacs or gcc. Likes to curl up with a good SF book, but has been known to fall asleep reading K&R or an O’Reilly title. **Fenris** is Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (without the pedophilia). Better known as Lewis Carroll, he was a true artisan of the English language, one of the few people who could use words like oils on a canvas. Tall, slight, with unkempt hair and a rather boyish face, he has piercing eyes and a truly wicked sense of humor. (It’s amazing how much a personality description can influence a physical description.) **Fenris** is never afraid to tweak logic to Humpy-Dumptian levels. Now, can someone please do me? 😃 ---
