I mean big on the order of Elizabeth Taylor or Johnny Carson: long and storied career, many good things to say about them, cover of every entertainment magazine. My sister said Robert Redford, but I dunno. He’s old, but he takes care of himself. He may go on and on, to 100 or even beyond. My first guess is Bob Dylan; second is Ringo Starr. (But not McCartney, for the same reason as Redford.) What say you? ---

Is Trebek _big_ enough? You would think so, with all the attention the news is giving his recent announcement. Wife thinks this was recorded long ago, just after his head injury, and was held till after the big All-Star thing, and that he is probably gonna go, like tomorrow. ---

well wwe’s vince McMahon is old as dirt and that’s the only way hes gonna let anyone do anything overly useful so businesswise some hold out hope……. ---

I think Trebek. Only one person has him in the Death Pool. With this announcement a lot would select him for next year. Death will want to disappoint us by giving points to as few as possible. ---

No offense to Trebek, but he isn’t that big. Either the monarch or consort would be good guesses. Pope Benedict has a shot as does Jimmy Carter. I wouldn’t count Rosalynn as big, either. In entertainment, either surviving Beatle would be big though I don’t see it happening soon. Keith Richard continues to defy medical science but for how much longer? Betty White isn’t a bad bet. ---

Stephen King. Between his misspent youth of drugs and alcohol and that horrific car accident, he’s living on borrowed time anyways. Ditto Ben Vereen. The three live theatre big ones are Stephen Sondheim, John Kander, and especially Hal Price. When that Prince dies, it will be bigger than Prince Phillip. ---
