# Who /doesn't/ love Qadgop?

Yep, **QtheM** is the bees knees without a doubt. What a guy.
Oh, and while it may not be citrus (although it is described in a book called “Citrus and other sub tropical fruit”), may I recommend lychee’s?

A study conducted at Rutgers University evaluated the nutritional value of fruits to determine–ounce for ounce–which provides the most nutrition. The findings, published in the October 1997 issue of the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, ranked popular fruits on the basis of the amount of the daily value they provide per 100 grams of fruits. At the top of the list was [kiwifruit](http://www.kiwifruit.org/). I guess it’s not really citrus, but tart and yummy! 🙂

I don’t _love_ **Qadgop** , as _that_ would be unmanly, but I do like him very much, in a manly, male-bonding sort of way. [sub]Which one is the supercilious smilie?[/sub]
Now if I could just remember his name!
P.S. I have no strong opinions about citrus, except that without limes, we wouldn’t have margarhitas, a tragedy not to be borne.

Surely you jest. Do you really think that being imprisoned, for say embezzlement, should be a potential death sentence?
Do you really realize what you said? If you have no regard for the patients can you imagine the conditions for the staff in a place as densely populated as a prison if there were no medical care for the prisoners?
However, anyone who actually likes Vegemite? Ugh.

Actually, there are a number of other citrus flavors. Citrus also comes in kumquat, pumelo, and golden bean. Have you ever tried blood orange? Totally different from sweet orange.

I love Quadgop too, always go to a post if I see his name on it.
Quadgop, have you tried Japanese yuzu? (citron?? Not sure of what they are called in English.)
If you can get to a Japanese speciality shop and get a bottle of yuzu ponzu, your tastebuds are in for a treat. It is a soy sauce/ rice vinegar base with the yuzu added to it. You can pour it over salad, cold meat,
grilled fish, tofu, flash-boiled-and-water-squished-out spinach, you name it. Yum!

I got an email from my mom (Mrs. Mercotan) yesterday. She told me that **Qadgop** had brought her thirty long-stemmed red roses.
It was the 30th anniversary of their first date.

**Qadgop** is a stand up guy. Even when we are in disagreement, he manages to be entirely calm and instructive, much like another one of my favorite posters, **Tamerlane**.
**Qad** really popped up on my radar in the VA hospital Pit thread when he openly admitted that a good nursing team can sometimes outweigh the benefit of a fine doctor. More recently, in the IMHO modesty thread, **Qad** succinctly identified excessive modesty as a form of ego-centrism.
**Qad** , you’ve really raised the tone of these boards with your presence here. You have my thanks. Now please be so kind as to trundle on over to the GQ absinthe thread (if you haven’t already) and straighten out the OP on the dangers of wormwood oil. Again, you are a definite asset to this community, thank you.

**Qadgop** is also one of my favorite posters. In fact, he’s part of the reason I was finally able to go to the doctor after an almost 30 year absence, because he seemed caring but clinical. I’ve always admired his knowledge of all things Tolkienian. He’s interesting, funny, informative without being condescending.

Fortunately I seem to be having more good days than bad at this stage of my life.
I must admit I lack significiant knowledge of wormwood, other than it’s one of the things _I_ appreciate by leaving it strictly alone.

Slight hijack… what is your specialty? I have a vague recollection of you being family practice trained. If you could go back to forth year of medical school, what would you do differently? the same?

Yeah, FP trained and boarded, and done the whole gamut, including lots of first surgical assisting on my patients (back when they re-imbursed decently for that), obstetrics, sigmoidoscopy, tons of urgent care in a high volume setting with too much stuff that _should_ have gone to the ER; cardiac stress testing, and a lot of clinical management and peer review, in addition to basic primary care. Added a few special interest areas, like asthma, diabetes, addiction medicine, mainly because since I saw so much of it, I felt I needed to get better at it.
To do all over again? I don’t know if I’d change or not. I like the niche I find I’ve carved for myself. But psychiatry in hindsight seems a field I would have enjoyed. Or perhaps radiology, or derm. Nothing real macho with lots of call. As I get older I’m glad I work regular hours, and am off when I’m off. More emphasis on family and self, less emphasis on the MD side of my life.
