David Owen, in his book [Sheetrock & Shellac](http://www.amazon.com/Sheetrock-Shellac-Thinking-Persons-Improvement/dp/0743251199/sr=1-1/qid=1163443333/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-5333386-0030429?ie=UTF8&s=books) (which I highly recommend to any would-be do-it-yourselfers), has a theory that unfinished home improvement projects are a way of reaching for immortality. After all, if you still have to paint the bedroom, you can’t die yet, right?

I can’t knit. I _can’t_ _knit_. I cannot knit my way out of a paper bag (you know, on the off chance I ever needed to).
