Had this happen years ago at a traffic light of all things. I was second in line at the light and I was sitting pretty far back of the person because it was on a hill, when I noticed his back up lights turn on. Then he started backing up. I tooted my horn, which had no effect as he sped up. Then I laid on the horn til he hit me. The guy said he didn’t see me somehow.
I was at a red light and a pickup in front of me was backing up to try to turn down a side street. I laid on the horn but he still hit me.
Fortunate for me, he was very honest about what happened. He could have easily said I hit him. No other cars at the intersection stopped to tell the cops what they saw so it was my word against his.
I had a busted head light assembly and a crumpled hood. Got $1200 from him. That’s how I bought my computer 4 years ago.
I nipped a car from behind once and we both got out and she said there was no damage and not to worry about it. I went on my merry way and received a letter in the mail a few weeks later from her lawyer sueing me for $5000. I also got a ticket for a hit and run.
Ahem. I backed into someone once.
I was sitting in a liqor store parking lot (went in to use their ATM) on a very busy main street. After about 10 minutes, I got tired of sitting there and decided to try the other exit. Stupidly, I just backed up - thud. Into some kind of old tank-metal car. Happily, I don’t accelerate when I back up, for the most part. So, no damage done to either vehicle, and we both went on our way.
If it’s my only accident, I’ll be happy.
