Because I am. I’ve heard it’s dark, and not great for kids. You know what. . .I miss the music. It always stirs me; it really does. I like the old themes and the new themes. I love light saber fights, and star ships, and the cityscapes and landscapes and hairdos that Lucas creates. I look forward to a movie with a dark ending (and dark parts from what I’ve heard). Like a lot of you, my childhood was FILLED with imagination and play rooted in Star Wars. Unlike a lot of you, I fully appreciated Lucas’ imagination and technical mastery of the most recent Star Wars films and was able get past a couple “mee-sa’s” and “yippees” to actually enjoy those creative action-packed space romps. So, I’m totally psyched for the coming installment. I won’t see it opening day, or even opening weekend, but I’ll be there when the crowds die down, probably a couple times. ---

Sorry, mate. I’m not. I have NEVER seen a “Star Wars” film and am unlikely ever to do so! I was at university when the first one (or was it the 4th?) came out in the UK in 1977; someone suggested a trip to the cinema to see it. I joined the 6 or 7 blokes who went to see “Annie Hall” instead! Accidentally caught a trailer for this latest one. Can’t see the point, myself. But I can appreciate that the prospect excites some people - so good luck to you, and I hope you like it! ---

I’m not excited even though I have been a lifelong Star Wars fan. I got too burned with the other prequels so I’m not getting my hopes up. No opening day viewing, no pre-ordering tickets. I might get around to seeing it within a month. ---

I just bought my midnight tickets … but nobody here at work seems to understand why that’s exciting. Or why I would want to see a two and a half hour movie at midnight on a weekday. 🙂 I’m really looking forward to the advertised darkness of the whole thing. I had heard tell of some scenes of “domestic violence,” which had people up in arms … but come on. You think Darth Vader never smacked his wife around? Just because it’s important to the plot doesn’t mean the world at large condones it. _sigh_ It just reminds me of the lady behind me during Episode I who left the theater because (as she loudly told her compatriots, almost earning her a one-way trip to the Great Cantina in the Sky) the very idea of Anakin not having a father was “the worst kind of sacrilege.” Easy, people. It’s a movie. But it’s also a worldwide phenomenon, and one I’ve been thoroughly fanatic about for as long as I can remember. I called my mother “Imperial scum” before I could recite the alphabet all the way through. (Luckily, she thought that was funny.) The kids in my neighborhood staged elaborate recreations of the Battle of Yavin. (I wasn’t allowed to play Leia, because my hair was red, and because my brother was playing Luke. That became funny sometime around 1983. 🙂 ) Oh, and, of course, it never hurts that Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen are just plain pretty. 😉 ---

I heard it in passing in a story about how Moms aren’t too happy with the movie. One of my major disappointments with the last one was when Anakin flipped out like a ninja on the sand people, they didn’t show any of it. I thought it was the real beginning of his turning and Lucas kind of “copped out”. So, hopefully, this one is a little more dark. It is PG-13 instead of PG, IINM. ---

Eh… I loved the original series, I’ve seen Episodes 1 & 2 because I knew people who bought the DVD’s. I’ll probably see 3 if someone I know buys it. If not, I won’t worry about it. ---

This year, I’ve already been there to see “Million Dollar Baby”, “Sin City”, and “The Interpreter”. It helps that they show good movies. ---
