# Who else loved The Adventures of Pete and Pete on Nickelodeon?

I watched Pete and Pete all the time when I was a kid. I firmly believe that it is the best kids’ show ever. No show aimed towards children before or since has been, in my opinion, as hip, clever, creative, and funny as Pete and Pete was. It’s like Arrested Developent Jr. - it incorporated elements of surrealism, had extremely quirky characters, and featured a long line of guest stars from pop culture, including Michael Stipe, Chris Elliott, Iggy Pop, LL Cool J, and Steve Buscemi.
The stories and characters from this show were just unbelievable. It’s not just child nostalgia that makes me love it so much - it’s that it is still hilarious and entertaining to me ten years later.

**The Adventures of Pete & Pete** was brilliant. Though, it was really the supporting cast that made the show, IMHO.
Artie, Ellen, Nona, Bus Driver Stu, Endless Mike, Pitstain, Papercut, Mr. Tastee; those are the ones I really remember. Oh, and Adam West as the principal.
Nickelodeon used to be awesome in it’s prime. It had **Pete & Pete** , **Clarissa Explains It All** , **Doug** , **Kenan & Kel** , **Space Cases** , **Hey Dude** , **Salute Your Shorts** , **All That** , **Are You Afraid of the Dark?** and **The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo**. I loved Nikelodeon. It’s a real pity that the quality of the programs has gone so downhill in recent years.

Oh man, my roommate and I Netflixed the DVDs from this show and watched them. It was the most awesome Netflix decision ever. Being older and watching it was a lot different, but it was still so cool. How did we never wonder how a 9 year old got a tattoo? Or how the ringing phone only drove people crazy at certain times of the year? It didn’t matter.
I’m still in marching band, and in most of our shows we spell “Aggies”. I always note who dots the ‘i’ and remember Ellen. “I am the dot. I am the dot.”

I loved Pete and Pete. I can’t think of many shows that so totally captured the look of real life, much less doing it while being so off-the-wall.

Heh, I just got the first disc of the first season from Netflix the other day and watched it, afraid that it was going to be one of those shows that I remembered was really good, but turned out to be not so good when I watch it now (I’m looking at you, GI Joe!). Luckily that weren’t the case.
Nickelodeon really did have a bunch of great programming back in the day. I might add Clarissa Explains it All to the queue.

One of my all-time favorites. We got it on DVD and it’s a lot of fun to watch it now with my daughter, who is 16. When it was in its original run when she was little, she liked it, but a lot of it just went over her head. Now she can really appreciate the surrealism and cleverness.

One of my all-time favourites. The Krebstar running gag was excellent, too.

A toss-up between “Farewell, My Little Viking” (Artie, The World’s Stronges Man leaves) and “When Petes Collide” (The Rolling Thunder episode - loved the Grandad)

Awesome! FunFact: I used to party with Hairnet in college. We lived in the same dorm, and she’s about my age.
And I have the DVDs of the first two seasons–my husband had never seen the show, and that was a problem…

I always loved how that one girl’s dad was Iggy Pop and she was embarrased by the way he danced (and if you’ve ever seen Iggy dance in concert, it was exactly like he danced on the show).

God, what a great show. Totally shaped my comedic sensibility as a kid. Ironic, detached, surreal, quietly subversive. And yes, watching it as an adult just deepens the experience.

I loved Pete & Pete. Of all the Nickelodeon shows my boys would watch, Pete & Pete was my absolute favorite. I’d hoped for years they’d release them on DVD and when they did (the first 2 seasons, anyway) I put them on the top of our queue and watched them all. Still love them.

That is exactly was **Birdman** and I said whilest re-enjoying them through the wonder of NetFlix. The kids who grew up watching Pete and Pete are the people mourning Arrested Development now.

It was a great show, I used to watch it with my daughter when she was 5 or 6. It reminds me a bit of Malcolm in the Middle, another offbeat comedy.

The second season DVD is out, and I hope the third one will be out soon - it’s been a while since the second came out.

Alright: What character did you play? (If you don’t mind telling us.)
What kind of relationship did Mike Maronna and Danny Tamberelli have off-camera? Were they good friends, or close to each other at all due to the characters that they portrayed, or were they just actors doing their job? They have great chemistry on the show.
What kind of people were the writers and directors? I’m guessing that they were a bunch of hipsters, probably in the 25 to 35 demographic - am I right?
