I think the best way to spend election night is to combine getting drunk with a bridge party. I think you can probably guess how the bidding will go. ---

I don’t like getting drunk, but days like this kind of make me wish I did. I’ll probably have a single glass of something reasonably authoritative; we’ll have to face tomorrow together, hungover or not, so I’ll at least be with you drunkards in spirits. ---

Ehh, my getting away with sliding my dad’s daily driver while up on two wheels at 80MPH without rolling it at 16 years old didn’t truly “fix” anything, either. But it was much better than the alternative. Gotta always look on the bright side… And well: I work tonight, voted weeks ago, and Texas restricts alcohol sales on plenty of days, but not election day. I’m getting drunk once upon a time called right now!!! ---

Voted. I dunno how to put this so it doesn’t sound stupid or obvious, but it actually made me sick to see “Trump/Pence” as an option on the ballot. As if I could get to the booth and have the ballot read “Surprise! It was all just a Comedy Central prank!” I’d stick a straw in that bottle of Knob Creek now if I didn’t have commitments until mid-evening. Not sure I can stand to wait up until 11:00 to get the first breathless, rushed, meaningless calls “with 0.1% of precincts reporting.” Here’s to a map blue from see to shining see, and the GOP sinking into its hard-dug abyss, tied to the bloated, bloviating, stinking corpse of DT. ---

What is this “no alcohol sales on election days”? I have never heard of this. Sounds like it’s meant to prevent the drunken mobs from assembling. As if we can’t plan ahead :rolleyes: ---

Supposedly the laws were originally designed to prevent politicians from offering alcohol in exchange for votes.
