Who gets/got more hatred: Bush or Obama:

…a minority who will endlessly complain about the membership of the board sharing opinions, and a partridge in a pear tree.

What a great idea! Somebody can put up a thread title, you can put words in everyone’s mouths, and the rest of us can take the day off and go bar -hopping.

Bush took the country into it’s first pre-emptive war based on either misinformation (at best) or outright lies (at worst). For that reason alone, no amount of vitriol is high enough.

Is there one thing Obama has done that approaches this?

Darn me and my typos:

…its first pre-emptive war…

It’s perfect that you mock me for this and then in the next post Greenbean comes in to display a perfect example of #2. “Bush got bashed but deserved it.”

We should keep a tally.

I’d say it’s a no brainer…definitely Bush was hated more by the left than Obama is by the right. As with Obama, the dissing started even before the election. I remember lefties worried about Bush outlawing abortion and turning out millions of poor to starve in the street (and equally over the top partisan ranting). The 2000 election being ‘stolen’ pretty much set the stage for left wing views on Bush. For a time shortly after 9/11 things quieted down, even up through the Afghanistan invasion and even the early days of Iraq (relatively quiet), but by 2005 it really started to heat up and go completely over the top. As noted, one has but to look back at threads on this board. Can the OP seriously claim that there are more hate Obama threads than the numerous and frequent rants about Bush around here??

One of the things that has always stuck with me is the use graphic showing Bush and a chimp with various supposedly similar facial expressions and emotional body language. That, to me, typifies the mood and feeling and amount of rancor and hate the left had towards Bush.

Now, here’s the thing…a lot of the stuff Bush did justified a certain amount of rancor from the left. It was over the top and ridiculous, but it wasn’t baseless IMHO. The man was a poor president, who made poor decisions and got us into at least one completely pointless war. But to seriously say that right wing hatred is on par with the campaign of hate the left launched against Bush for pretty much his whole presidency? :dubious:

‘Barry’, ‘Obmummer’, ‘Obumbles’, and ‘That Kenyan Muslim Marxist Guy’ would like a word with you.

First of all, you talking 'bout me? Interestingly, Greenbean was a childhood nickname of mine, but there’s only one SDMB poster that knew me as a child (that I’m aware of).

Second, I’ll repeat: Bush started a war based on falsehoods. Name one thing Obama has done that even approaches this level of evil.

Yes, Bush clearly deserves all the hatred I have for him.

Would you like to take a wild guess as to what comes up more in a search, ‘Shrub’ (as associated with Bush) or any of the ones you listed here (with the possible exception to ‘Barry’, which is both pretty innocuous AND just a regular name)? :stuck_out_tongue:

Would you deny any of those is appropriate?

So now the SDMB is a fair representative sample/cross-section of the American public?

How does that correlate in your mind with what I said? To paraphrase from Princess Bride, truly you have a bewildering intellect. :stuck_out_tongue:

If the question was who was hated more on the SDMB, Bush would win hands down. Duh. It wasn’t.

If that had been my whole post then you’d have a point. But, duh…it wasn’t. Ok though…perhaps you have some evidence that Obama is more hated that Bush is? My point of bringing up the general hated of Bush on THIS site is that this is a pretty mildly left leaning board…and he was extremely hated and attacked relentlessly HERE. What do you suppose they were saying on REALLY left leaning boards? Or foreign boards or discussion groups?

Stolen from the message board of a Fox News talking head,

We really do need to differentiate between things actually done and things that only exist in fevered imaginations. (See also: Bill and Hillary Clinton e.g. The Clinton Body Count.)

I didn’t know it was a contest to see which narcissistic murderer with delusions of being an emperor was worse. It reflects only on people who value their membership in team red or team blue over basic human morality that either one would get a pass from anybody.

Every slur that was used against Bush have also been used against Obama. But the reverse is not true.

Can you point to prominent Democrats who came close to calling for their state to secede or for armed insurrection should Bush win?

There was a visible, noisy Impeach Bush movement, that actual Congressmen acted on.

From the wiki article in Human Action’s post:

I’m sure I said it up thread, but that’s enough for me.

Point was, it’s a case of prominent Democrats engaged in the same sort of extreme political posturing as Perry and Angle.
