Not me. Everybody sees me as harmless and without discernible personality, I suspect. I did pit someone else once, but then I got my arse handed to me over it, so I haven’t tried again since. ---

I was pitted once for something I said in GQ. The pit did not go well for the pitter. If I recall correctly he came back after a few days and claimed he was drunk when he posted. I have completely forgotten who did it and for all I know I have been interacting with him with no problem since. Please don’t look it up for me, it doesn’t matter anymore. ---

To the best of my memory, I have never been pitted. I don’t visit the Pit much and then only to read. The exceptions I can think of are two current (or nearly so) threads dealing with ignore lists and quitting a message board. If I have been mentioned in a Pit thread, I can’t remember it nor the context in which it might have come up. Occasionally I sense that I have been part of some “global pitting” in that the people being pitted are not individuals but some group of posters whom the pitter finds pit-worthy. My first reaction to such “they” accusations is that “this must be me they’re talking about.” But after a moment’s thought I conclude: 1. If it is me they mean and won’t come out and say so, why bother worrying about it? 2. If it isn’t me, why bother worrying about it? I do know that I can get “cutesy” at times and inject myself into an otherwise serious discussion just to crack wise or engage in a mini-hijack, but I do try not to be a nuisance and say things that will piss others off enough to get pitted over it. Being called down in the thread or having the thread locked is as serious as my rebukes have been. Occasionally I will do a vanity search to see if I have been mentioned somewhere that I haven’t been participating. The few times that has happened have been outside the Pit. So, I can claim with 95% certainty that I’m not in the Pitted Users column. ---

**Liberal** pitted me for something I said in a thread about _The Apprentice_. Regular readers of Cafe Society know I’m a total slut for reality TV, and this was a thread started in advance of the season finale, in which I said something about how needing to visit a friend in the hospital after his surgery for prostate cancer might interfere with my seeing the avidly-anticipated show. The point of the aside was (extremely obviously) that visiting my friend would take precedence over watching TV, but **Lib** went ballistic on my fucked up priorities. ---

3 times, I think. One was over a former sig line, which annoyed one Poster and got his Pitting of me turned on him. One was a semi-justified complaint about a rather hard-hearted comment I had made in a MPSIMS thread. The third was basically a mis-understanding that was cleared up rather quickly when I apologized. I think that’s all. There may be another, but I’m can’t be arsed to search for it. ---

I don’t think I’ve ever been pitted and have been a member since 2004. On the other hand, not many people here seem to know who I am, so that may explain some of it. I try hard not to offend people and I’ve never started a pit thread on the board about anyone on the board myself. ---

A [second](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=178921) was a faux-pitting, right about the time those were being outlawed. I was pitted [once](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=450576&page=2), and I like to think it was because I was handing someone’s ass to them in Great Debates. But the person in question ended up apologizing, I accepted it with no hard feelings at all, and it makes me laugh to think about how a pitting ended with such politeness. ---

Even though I’ve been a member since March '99 I have never been pitted and probably never will. Hell most of the people on the board have no idea who I am and that I exist. That’s okay though, at least that way no one has any preconceived ideas about me. ---

I have never been pitted, and I have never pitted another poster. The nearest thing to a pitting I’ve received was in [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=361824), in which I pitted New Jersey (sort of) for coming after me for sales taxes on cigarettes that were shipped there in my name. In the thread’s first reply, \*\*lissener \*\*called me “a scofflaw and a tax cheat.” I also started one \*extremely \*ill-conceived joke thread in MPSIMS about Alzheimer’s when I was fairly new to the board. I apologized and the thread was closed; no pit thread was started, but that’s probably the only time I was close to getting pitted. ---

Never been pitted. But that’s probably more due to my low profile than my charming personality. I did pit \*\*lekatt \*\*once–didn’t do any good since he doesn’t go in the Pit, thought. ---

There are at least three pit threads dedicated me, possibly more. Since I don’t pay attention to that forum very much, I may well have missed some. The first was a rather lame one concerning something said in a thread about Cindy Sheehan, and it got no replies. The second and third probably had something to do with religion; I’ll never know since I never opened them. They do give me a warm, fuzzy feeling, since they mean that people are reading my posts and are learning from me, even if they intensely dislike what they learn.
