Sorry, am I late? I was working overtime VOLUNTARILY 😛 Look at my profile (yes, I know it’s boring, but study my interests). OK, 11 years ago I get offered a job teaching computing and chess at a private school. I build up the chess team, and also introduce roleplaying as an activity. We reach the finals of the National Schools chess, and then win the National Schools roleplaying. The headmaster calls me in. ‘I’m pleased with the success and the favourable publicity you bring to the school. I want you to go full time on chess + other mind sports. Oh, and since this is a unique position, write your own job description!’ 🆒 So there we have it - I teach chess, roleplaying and have introduced computer games. (Anyone else like Heroes 3?). I know tatertot claims to have a better job - but I think I did something very, very good in a previous life! ---

I basically make my own hours, drive around in a company car, drink all the free coffee I want and talk to people. At company parties I get to hold onto some of the drink tickets for my staff… and use them for myself! When the shit hits the fan… I am high enough in the company that it doesn’t splatter on me (usually). I love my job. 😃 ---

Um, I have the best job of any high school student of my acquaintance… I work 4 days a week, 5 hours a shift, running a NASCAR-collectibles store. I get paid to sit on my ass for four hours of the shift, and for one hour total I’m face to face with customers, getting paid to use my huge mental encycopedia of useless racing facts. I don’t get paid huge sums of money, but it’s very little work and what work is involved is enjoyable, something I’m interested in, and connected to what I plan to do for a living… ---

Back when I worked for the railroad, the best job, bar none, was locomotive engineer. Don’t know what the best job, ever, is, but I’m pretty sure the worst is attendant in the public men’s room on the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ… ---

I don’t know who has the best job now, but I’d say actor Steven Hill of Law & Order had a pretty good gig. He’s retired now, but for the length of the show’s run all he’d do is grumble a few lines about what a tough case the ADA had and then shuffle off screen. ---

I write jokes and draw cartoons for decent salaried pay. Inbetween jokes and cartoons I surf the web, watch dvd movies and play videogames. And no heavy lifting. I’m also looking for a new job. Go figure. ---

I have a damn good job, as far as mechanical engineering goes.[ul] [li]I get to perform analysis for a wide variety of industries – aerospace, transportation, telecommunications, semiconductor, etc.[/li][li]At the same time, I’ve participated, and continue to participate, in the development of new technologies in the aforementioned industries (I know stuff that you don’t know – neener neener neener).[/li][li]Even if I don’t participate, I get to witness numerous technologies emerging around me, such as the [portable power pack for the Army.](http://www.memagazine.org/contents/current/features/time/time.html)[/li][li]I am consistantly challenged and am constantly learning new things.[/li][li]I have a wide variety of tasks. Besides doing analysis work I demo the computer aided engineering (CAE) software we distribute and teach classes on how to use it.[/li][li]I have good medical, dental, vacation, and 401K benefits.[/li][li]We close down between Christmas and New Years (good for someone who lives 1800 miles away from his family).[/li][/ul] Wouldn’t mind it if it were a little more diverse – gender-wise – though. ---
