> And the way they all went bonkers over the thing about malpractice liability limits was just sad. It’s like their _one_ thing. Affordable healthcare for everybody? Meh. No limits on coverage? Whatever. Not having to worry about malpractice lawsuits? WOOOT OMG BEST IDEA EVER THIS WILL SAVE AMERICA!!!
>
> It is a good idea, but the ferverence with which they cling to the idea is ridiculous. Don’t studies show that limiting malpractice layouts would save like 0.5% of the cost of healthcare? I’m sure the insurance companies would love it if they didn’t have to keep paying out multi-milion dollar payouts when their doctors screw up, though. But wont the republicans think of the lawyers?? I guess the insurance lobby trumps the lawyer lobby.

What we need is a public option for malpractice insurance. 😛

That’s how he lost me (climbing in bed with da fundies). Palin was just the last straw.

I have to admit it made me feel really good, though, when the President gave the shout-out to McCain during his speech. I still like the old fucker.

So, three days behind the _honorable_ man, at best?
Maybe Wilson’d do better if he actual _retracted_ his so called apology.

Me too. I was disappointed to see him contort himself into something he;s not during the election. Now I see him defending Obama and standing and applauding. All is forgiven.

Look, I’m still a Republican and not a Democrat. The party left me, not the other way around. I don’t agree with most of the means the Democrats want to follow. Sadly, their opposition is effing bugnuts. I’m patient. I’ll wait till someone wants to represent me again.

Well, democracy works. Ppl in general just never understood how much the ‘dick’ constituency was underrepresented.

See, I don’t get this. If I were a sane Republican (like my mom, who is a social liberal / fiscal conservative type), I would be burning up the phone lines right now calling every Republican who even thought about representing me in Congress and begging them to bring sanity back to the party. The number of independents who voted for Obama after Palin joined the ticket is what pushed Obama over the edge. They have to understand that the crazies are NEVER going to vote D…so you have to play toward the middle. They’re going to have the fundie base no matter what. There’s no need to spend so much time pandering toward them.

But what if they simply stop voting R? What then?

Tried. They weren’t listening. So, I’m waitin. Hoping they burn out and fail big-time _quickly_. Sooner it all goes to hell for them, the sooner we get some sanity back.

As a resident of SC, I’m sure he’s right…to an extent. I’m just not sure one can say how significant a role it played. There is [some precedent](http://harpers.org/archive/2009/09/hbc-90005700) to say it played a role in Wilson’s case, however.
