Elliot Spitzer dropped tens of thousands of dollars over several years. Personally I don’t think it’s a big deal as long as you a) have the money and b) are single. And from what I’ve observed, it’s a lot more common than people think. It’s not really any worse than a one night stand and in many ways it is better. You don’t need to lie, “run game” or otherwise manipulate some girl into having sex. It’s basically a professional transaction. The only thing I would really be concerned about is after years of sleeping around and banging prostitutes, you might have trouble with real relationships or develop an attitude that all women are whores. ---

I’ve been with a few prostitutes. Usually, it’s a vaguely disappointing experience. I don’t feel guilty over it, or anything, but I mostly end up feeling like I’ve wasted my money. It definitely doesn’t compare to having sex with someone with whom you’ve got a real emotional relationship. Honestly, though, there’s not a whole lot to tell about these sorts of things. You meet the girl, give her money, then fuck. The whole goal of the exchange is to cut out all the weird, awkward stuff that leads to a good story.
