After reading the Oral sex question I had wondered it myself (the title of the thread) though I would have worded the post itself a little different. My guess would either be a gay couple or a really gutsy hetro couple. _Disclamer: I’m not trying to judge anyone on what they do in bed. As long as everyone involved is of age, consenting, and human it’s fine by me_ ---

It was invented by a gentleman named Phil R. Rectum. On the giving end, I would guess it’s along the lines of \*\*\*ing anything with a hole - hey, here’s another one! On the receiving end, well, even little kids experiment with putting things ‘up there’, so it’s hardly unnatural. ---

I have read that gorillas on occasion engage in anal sex, which would support the hypothesis that anal sex wasn’t invented, but instead is at least at some level instinctive behavior. I forget where I heard this . . .In ancient Sparta, it was custom for older warriors to take “younger” warriors and make them their “bitch” up until a certain age. After that age, the younger warriors were prohibited from having relations with his sugardaddy. ---

I don’t have a cite (I’m not Googling this topic at work, either) but isn’t the greater incidence of AIDS in Africa at least partially related to the greater acceptability of anal sex between hetero couples as a form of birth control? I coulda sworn I read that somewhere… So, so far we have: 1. We think there may be occurances of it with non-human primates, let alone other species 2. Homosexual male behavior - no one has tackled how long gays have been part of human race, but one could venture that as long as humans have been around, some have been gay and therefore gay sexual behaviors track with the emergence of humans…if not before that (see #1) 3. For the relief of unbearable urges when no female companionship is around - Ancient Greeks, prisons, etc… 4. As a contraceptive technique between hetero couples 5. Because it’s fun :D, homo, hetero, whatever - lotta nerve endings there… ---

If I was a betting man, I’d say The Greeks. The Spartans did use it as a…bonding experience. I imagine you would protect your lover in a battle more valiently than you would protect a someone who was just a fellow soldier. Wasn’t Julias Ceasar described as a every woman’s man and every man’s woman? Or something to that effect? ---
