If a plane crashes on the border of Canada and the U.S.A., what country will they bury the survivors in? What weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of rocks. When I was in high school we used to drive past Grants Tomb on the Jersey side of the Hudson River and someone would always ask “Who is buried in Grants Tomb?” The answer is Ulysses S. Grant _and his wife_. ---

I had a Stats instructor in college who used to like to corner students and bark out, “quick! What is the square root of X squared?” Amazing how many people would be temporarily flummoxed by it. ---

Sort of dated at this point, but “What’s black and white and red/read all over?” A newspaper, although it’s dated partly because no one reads an actual paper any more and partly because those papers that still exist are printed in color. ---

"You’re driving a bus. At the first stop, 5 people get on. At the second stop, 3 people get on and 2 people get off. At the third stop, 6 people get on and 4 people get off. Now… what’s the bus driver’s name?" A lot of people will have forgotten that the riddle began with the words “You’re driving a bus,” and won’t know to respond with their own names. ---
