Hell, I posed the question once, after watching [this live performance of Kid Charlemagne](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylr2D4Pwn58), as to whether Steely Dan wasn’t actually a much better band than the Beatles. The board’s musicos answered right away, and the answer was “No.” 😛 ---

But a better _band_? Naw. They’re hardly a genuine band at all. But the real reason I responded was to note that I was really grooving on this clip until they got to the chorus, where they totally fucked up the hook by shortening one note, changing it from “get aaa-long…” to “getalooong…” ---

Who the heck is Oasis, and why would they even merit comparison to the Beatles? Even to ask “is so-and-so better than the Beatles” is pretty high praise for so-and-so… Do these Oasis folks (whom I’ve genuinely never heard of) deserve even that? ---

I can remember (and probably recite a good portion of) at least a dozen Beatles songs given a few minutes, and I _like_ most of them. Oasis… Oh yeah, they did wonderwall. What was the question again? ---

My parents lived through Beatlemania as teenagers, and I can guarantee that neither of them have ever heard of Oasis. Oasis was much bigger in the UK than they were on this side of the pond. ---
