Who is the Iowa group calling for the banning of 50 cal. sniper rifles

Aren’t there quite a few .50 cal muzzleloaders out there? Frequently, easily, legally registered .50’s? Some pretty high-tech, accurate, composite-stock .50 muzzleloads that afford the owner an extra week or two of deer season (i.e. the “black powder” season)?

Are they covered?

No, this refers specifically to the .50 BMG (Browning Machine Gun) round. It wouldn’t cover .50 AE or similar cartridges either.

[laughing hysterically]
Yeah, you’re missing the fact that all I know about guns is the fact that you put bullets in them and they go “bang!”

Yo, Just? Next time you see that sucker on the crawl, copy it down word-for-word, wouldja? 'Cause I ain’t turning up nothing, nowhere.

Not accusing you of partaking of any illegal hallucinogens or anything, but… If there is a story there, it sure ain’t a very big one.

Yo Duck.

You didn’t look at CNN all day long did you???

It was there until they changed it sometime aroung 2:PM.

Now it says that handguns account for 2 deaths of children a day.
Incorrect if you believe the CDC.

Yeah I’ll agree it ain’t a big story.

BTW I might have found the Iowa group.A lot of babbling with half truths like we’ve all gotten used to from these people.

What’s the matter, have the forum descriptions disappered in some kind of VBulletin bug?

The very next person who makes a gun control argument in this thread, pro or con, with facts or without, will be banned from this message board.

This is your only warning.

The McMillan Brothers can set you up with a .50 BMG bolt action repeating rifle for around $5k. Add to that cost for one hell of a sturdy scope and moutning rings. McMillan is geared toward competition benchrest rifles but the difference between a long range hunting rifle, a target rifle and sniper is often just semantic anyway. I’ve never shot one of their rifles, just seen some of the McMillan family at benchrest mathes here and have one of their fine stocks on one of my .22s.

What’s the name of the group, JWannano?

No real reason to ask, just vaguely curious now that we’ve talked about it so much.

Jwanno said it disappeared from the crawl around 2 (would the word “yanked” be too strong?).
He hasn’t reported any follow-through from the network.
I’m willing to bet that someone over there was misinformed.

I don’t know if this is them or not.

“Iowans for the prevention of gun violence”

This is just the only antigun organization that I know of in Iowa. Heck before today I didn’t know of any.

No, 'cause I don’t have cable!!!

And, I didn’t think it was important enough to call my mother, who does have cable, and ask her to sit there and watch CNN all day, when I know she’d rather be watching Animal Planet and The Bold and the Beautiful.

And, it’s not my job to do your basic research for ya, ya know? You wanna come into GQ and ask questions, then I’m delighted to look stuff up on Google for ya till the cows come home, babe, but ya gotta give me something to go on.

'kay?

WHAT?

Ha Ha

I don’t either.I have a dish.

I think the streamer said “…ban owning a 50 cal…”
yeah right. Everybody has $15K just laying around…

Thanks for the offer. I think we’ll just let this thread die.

Hmmm I think I forgot a /

I think it might be them. I saw this story on all three local news stations over the weekend, but can’t find anything on their websites, so no link to proof. The name sounds familiar, though.

I don’t have cable.
I don’t have a satellite dish.
I have a TV set.
Period.

I get PBS, ABC, and WB really well, NBC and Fox if the weather is right, CBS hardly at all, unless you put the antenna on the piano bench by the front door and then have someone stand in the spot marked “X” on the living room floor in masking tape.

Seriously.

This is a lifestyle choice, in case you were wondering.

Works for us. [shrug]

LOL

Bedsprings work, also aluminum combination storm windows.

Though I don’t want to take someones’ job away from them.

Your lifestyle sounds fine with me.I’m an old TV repairman so we have 3 working tvs and a couple more in the basement. Also probably enough electronics, albeit old stuff ,to build 2 more satellite systems.

Now see, I figured you’d be using Duck tape. Bah-hah-hah! I kill me.
