I always thought I should never be allowed a job with economic responsibilities seeing as I share initials with Norman Lamont and Nigel Lawson (Tory Chancellors who presided over the destruction of the UK’s economy) and Nick Leeson (the rogue trader who bought down Barings Bank). ---

Van is part of the surname; you wouldn’t use the W as part of his initials except as an affectation. If you’re talking about someone with two surnames, it’s different.
