Who is the most universally agreed upon incredible person on the Planet Earth? Past or present.

I work with a young man from India who states quite unequivocally that Gandhi was worse than Hitler and that if he’d had the chance, he’d have killed him himself. Yeah, he wasn’t a fan… And I imagine that many others in India agree with him.

Didn’t we have a member here recently (Aruqvan, I think) claim that Mr. Rogers was probably a pedophile? So that’s at least one person that doesn’t like the guy.

Aristotle. He basically taught us how to think. Whether people learned the lesson is another story.

Are there any creditable doubters left? Last time I looked, the various camps had all been consigned to the same shelf as the nuttier JFK theorists.

Gandhi and Mandela are hated by many people in their home nations.

Gotta agree with cougar58. Einstein was a great man, and anyone who disagrees with that has a screw or two loose upstairs.

Leonardo da Vinci is the greatest polymath, though. IMHO.

Maurice Hilleman

Delusional, uninformed nuts all of them, but yeah, they exist.

Muslims think Jesus is pretty awesome too, though they don’t consider him to be divine, they still count him as a prophet as holy as Mohammed.

There’s not many Jews compared to the Big Two, so they shouldn’t knock him out of the running.

Henri Dunant is an interesting choice… there’s certainly a lot less people that hate him compared to Jesus, maybe if you asked 7 billion people if they thought the founder of the Red Cross was a good person or not, most would say yes, and I’d guess the vast majority would say so.

I don’t think Mandela should even be in the running, the racist BEP laws he introduced have really hurt his country. He’s better than Zimbawe’s reformer president Mugabe, and better for most South Africans than DeKlerk, but he’s still not perfect. Anyway, you aren’t asking for my opinion, but for an estimate others, I think most people don’t know about him.

Umm… I personally really dislike the guy, but here’s one from the left field.

Adolf Hitler.
He’s admired in India for pulling himself up from poverty to political power.
He’s admired in China for being a strong leader and helping China develop in the 30s
He was(is?) admired in South America for being anticommunist.
He’s admired in the middle east for his resistance against the Joos.

That’s OK. Death eaters like Bella Lestrange don’t believe Dumbledore is a great wizard.

I would like a cite for these assertions.

Edward Jenner was pretty important as well.

Normal Burlang. Jonas Salk. William Morton.
I would leave political and religious figure out of it, they are usually too divisive.
