I agree that the phrasing is off and they should have accepted Boris Karloff as well as Frankenstein, but you’re wrong about what the monster’s called. He’s Frankenstein’s creation, he’s human of a sort, he lives in a country with patronymic naming traditions, and he refers to Frankenstein as father. His surname is automatically Frankenstein.
On the contrapositive, if I asked, who is this, would you say, “That’s Michael Sheard?”
Re the image in the OP, heck, I wouldn’t have known whether it was Karloff or Chaney. But I darn well know it’s “Frankenstein’s monster.”
If Price or Karloff are in it, I’ve seen it and probably own a copy. The thing I always enjoyed about “Tower” was that it seemed as if the cast really just had fun - didn’t take it serious or try to make it art. I have read several places that he and Price really didn’t like each other much but I don’t know that for a fact.
(Totally unrelated ---- now the actor who should have thought twice about some roles is Jack Palance. The 1969 version of Justine and a part that small and badly thought through? C’mon man.)
That’s why I really love “Murder by Death.” The actors are all obviously having a ball! You can just see it shining from their faces; they’re all but busting out laughing at their own – and each others’ – performances.
We need a good romp now and then!
(Another movie where the actors are all clearly enjoying themselves is “Beat the Devil” with Humphrey Bogart and Gina Lollobrigida, plus Robert Morley and Peter Lorre. Ostensibly a caper movie, it’s droll comedy, and the actors are loving every moment of it! Ivor Barnard, as “The Galloping Major,” is a ham-on-ham sandwich, with ham!)
(Apologies for highjack!)
That’s a person who has never been in my kitchen. I expect full points for a correct answer.
If there were other pictures of celebs, like a picture of George Clooney just being JGeorge Clooney in a promo picture or at a red carpet, then I agree that your answer should at least have been accepted. Occasionally at the pub trivia place I go to they’ll accept two different answers as correct when it could be ambiguous.
