I am looking into doing some freelance graphics work and am wondering if anyone can recommend any Web sites that match up freelancers with projects. [http://www.elance.com](http://www.elance.com) provides this service, for example. Are there lots more of these sites out there? I checked on [monster.com](http://monster.com) but their freelance area doesn’t seem to have much activity; plus, the projects are separated by state and have to be searched individually, which is kind of annoying because all the work is done electronically anyway so I could be in New York doing a project for a company in LA.

Or, other than word-of-mouth referrals, how does one go about getting projects? Any advice anyone can give would be much appreciated.

Also, I think there was a thread about this very topic a few months ago but I have been searching for 1/2 hour and can’t find it. Sorry if this is a repeat.

Thanks.

I should add that I’m looking for one-off projects that I will do at home or after hours at my regular job, not temporary full-time contract jobs.
