The Queen City Creamery, in downtown Cumberland, bills itself as a “Coffee Bar and Deli”, but everyone knows the _real_ reason you go there is for the frozen custard. On any given day, they only offer three flavors: chocolate, vanilla, and the flavor of the day (they also offer a sorbet flavor of the day). But oh, man, is it good!

As per the OP, it is most decidedly _not_ soft-serve ice cream. It is custard! And I distinctly remember the proprietors patiently explaining that again and again when they first opened.

I had it **once**.

As a boy, in Wisconsin.

It doesn’t exist here in Tennessee.

There is the shoddy, soft-serve fraud, but none of the real stuff.

☹

Colorado has a few shops here and there, like Cloud 9. And we have a growing chain called Good Times which really seems to be spreading the Frozen Custard love. Not the best I’ve ever had… but even so its silky smooth and delicious.

I’ve been to a Goodberry’s once. Best dessert I’ve ever had. I’ve never thought to look for anything similar here in Phoenix, but there’s a Culver’s just down the street. Oh, man. There goes my waistline.

Try Freddy’s at 43rd Ave and Bell, too.

I don’t know if I like frozen custard.

I’ve only ever had it at one place – [Luv-It Frozen Custard](http://www.luvitfrozencustard.com/) in Las Vegas.

Now, that is some mighty fine stuff. But for all I know their frozen custard would be mocked by any true frozen custard fan. Kind of like if I’d only ever had pizza from Domino’s and therefore thought it the best in the world.

It’s okay. If nothing else it gives you a baseline to compare should you ever have the opportunity again.

**Scooter’s** in Chicago! I think it’s the only frozen custard place in the city.
It’s pretty damn good.

The Concrete of the Month is always a great bet.

> There’s [Stoddard’s](http://www.stoddardsfrozencustard.com/), and there’s [Strickland’s](http://www.stricklands.info/site.cfm/about-us.cfm). The Akron area is blessed with an embarrassment of custard stands.

This thread makes me homesick. Ritter’s here in Florida doesn’t remotely measure up to the yummyness of Strickland’s 😃 I always wondered why there was such a large amount of custard stands in the Akron area. I thought it was generally a midwest thing, but my observation is that most towns don’t have quite the penetration of Frozen dessert stands that seem to be in Akron. You can’t really trip and fall and not land near some kind of stand it seems.

> I agree. Near the part of the Detroit suburbs where I grew up, there is a nice little frozen custard stand that’s been in business for 60+ years. It was a tradition for my family to go there in the summer.

Any chance it’s [this place](http://www.ermascustard.com/)? Even if not, it’s a great place to go in the summer.

This place in Fredericksburg, VA is worth the trip off I-95 if you’re driving through Virginia. [http://www.hollyeats.com/Carls.htm](http://www.hollyeats.com/Carls.htm)
