And if Lennon had meant what you say in those songs, he would have said so if asked about it, I think. He publicly admtted some silly shit the Beatles did, like the “tit-tit-tit” background vocal on “Girl”. I’m sure that if John Lennon had used the chorus line “Smoke pot, smoke pot, everybody smoke pot”, he’d have said so.

The one that stands out to me was Midnight Rendezvous by the Babies in about 1980. It trailed off at the end with:

A midnight rendezvous
Yeah
All I really wanna do
Oh I really wanna fuck you
Oh
Midnight rendezvous

DJs seemed to turn the volume down as it played out, but if they left it up till the end, it was very clear.

I recall once when a local AM station played the “I Feel Like I’m Fixin’ To Die Rag” by Country Joe and the Fish at Woodstock. They forgot to bleep the part where he says, “There’s 300,000 of you fuckers out there.”

It brought a big smile to my face, especially when the DJ came back on and apologized profusely.

Just checked Dirty Water: the line was, “That’s where you’ll find me, along with lovers, muggers and thieves.”

I remember the Babies tune. Also, at the end of the Aerosmith’s Live Bootleg version of Train Kept A Rollin’, Steven Tyler tells the crowd, “Thank you, you’re fucking beautiful.” That was occaionally heard on the radio, but it was usually clipped.

Closer, by Nine Inch Nails, features the line, “I wanna fuck you like an animal.” Every time I hear that tune on the radio,
“fuck” is edited out.

You’re mistaken, cowgod. Terribly, terribly mistaken. “Fuck” comes from a Germanic word meaning “to hit or strike.”
Here’s a tip: If anyone tells you that a word that’s been around for a long, long time is an acronym for anything, they are almost assuredly incorrect. Acronyms are a fairly recent linguistic innovation, as they assume a fairly well-educated and literate populace.

BTW- just as another ‘thing they don’t delete’, I’ve never heard any DJ play Pink Floyd’s “Money” without hearing- uncensored- the “goody-good bullshit.”

My favorite never-censored “fuck” on the radio is in Pink Floyd’s “Not Now John”
Aside from the verse that says it, the chorus of female voices says “fuck all that! fuck all that” in the background.

Actually, Opal, I have heard that censored on the radio. But it’s been so long ago, for the life of me, I can’t remember what they said.

Some of the stuff on this thread brings to mind an experiment I once heard on CBC Radio. They recorded a phrase (something innocuous like “you are listening to CBC Radio”) and then played it backward, asking people what they heard. Most people heard nothing recognizable. Then they ASKED people if the heard the phrase; “Sock a girl with a weasel in her mouth”, and ALL interviewees said that they could recognize that phrase!

The upshot? If you listen hard enough, you can pretty much hear whatever you want. 🙂
