A bunch of reporters were outside the courthouse because of the Robert Blake trial. I guess there was a hearing or something. Anyhoo, this man comes out and starts shooting at his lawyer point blank. The lawyer is trying to hide behind a tree while the guy keeps firing. The camera operators, there to catch a glimpse of Robert Blake, happened to catch this shooting on film. Apparently the shooter was upset the lawyer was going to be paid out his trust fund or something. He calmly walks away, pretending like nothing happened, when a security guard tackles him. Last I heard, the lawyer was in stable condition. ---

I saw it on the news too. While I wouldn’t dare call it “cool” or “hilarious”, it WAS pretty darn surreal to watch that lawyer duck behind a tree and dodge the bullets Matrix-style. As for WHY they showed it on the news at all, Hal Fischman of channel five gave a pre-emptive commentary about that, which boiled down to, “It’s news, it’s our job to show you the news no matter how disturbing it may be, so piss off.” I don’t think they would have shown the footage if the lawyer died, though. ---

THAT was WEIRD and scary. Also in the surrealism front, was how as the perp was walking away, one cameraman was following about 5 paces behind pointing and gesturing. And yes, some of the cameramen followed the victim rather than the perp: he staggers away a few yards, bleeding but dazed; is reached by a bunch of police/deputies/onlookers who seem to inform him “man, you’re shot, better lie down”, one takes off his jacket and shirt to pillow the man’s head while they give first aid to him. Well, at least one man is thankful that his client bought himself some cheap, underpowered low-caliber ammo. And was the world’s lousiest shot. As to how he got the gun, he probably left the courthouse first, went to his car in the parking lot and fetched it, then waited for the lawyer to come out. ---

My apologies if I offeneded anyone…but this looked like they were filming an episode of “JACKASS”. I wonder if the lawyer will be willing to testify…perhaps the whole thing was an accident? Anyway, wait for the sequel…(lawyer shoots client). ---

Just saw some TV footage last night of the lawyer. Poor guy…He’s bandaged, of course, and has a very ugly bulge on the side of his neck where they had to leave one of the bullets inside because it’s very close to the spinal column.
