Okay, here’s my take on how humorous posts fare here in the pit… Please note, this is intended as a good-natured parody. You may think it’s a stupid parody, which is fine. But for GOODNESS SAKE understand that I’m not trying to trash any individual or the SDMB. Just feeling the need for a little levity insertion here… Joke Post: _ **THIS IS A JOKE, INTENDED FOR HUMOR** _ How many Slobovians does it take to change a light bulb…? Answer: 3. One to hold the bulb and two to turn the chair he’s standing on. Replying Threads: #1) There’s no such thing as a Slobovian, you fucking idiot. Get your facts straight! And BTW, someone else posted this joke last week, so get your head out of your ass. You’re an idiot. #2) Yeah, fuck you! #3) I resent the fact that you chose a vaguely-eastern-european sounding name here. You’re trying to make some kind of point that eastern europeans are inferior aren’t you? Well here’s a CITE that proves otherwise, knucklehead #4) Haha, I think it’s pretty funny #5) Hey dinglepussy, how can you find that funny? Where’s Slobovia on a map? I didn’t think you could find it, asswipe. #6) I have to followup to post #3. I think he’s trying to comment on the Kosova/Serbian conflict. Probably more subtle trashing of Muslims, just as you’d expect from some trigger happy American cowboy!!! #7) OP: Actually, #6, I’m from Germany… #8) Well, you’re still a fucktard even if you’re not American. That joke is offensive. STOP IT! #9) And notice how the person holding the bulb is called “he.” sexist nitwit #10) I just thought it was a stupid joke, myself. It’s not even funny. #11) Who cares if you think it’s funny, shithead? It’s about curing ignorance and explaining to this fucktard that he’s patently offensive to eastern europeans, women and muslims! You just don’t get it, do you? #12) Guys, it’s just a joke. They go in MPSIMS or IMHO or one of the other forums I don’t read. Ranting’s supposed to go in the Pit. So somebody posts a joke thread, and everybody thinks “Well, he must be trying to be sarcastic because he’s pissed at somebody/something”, and then other people read the thread, and they’re hanging out in the Pit so they’re in the mood to take offense at something or turn it into a rant. Now, it seems to me that you’re posting this because of that stupid “French Wars” thread, but that’s just my impression. ---

Great example elf6c. You just forgot to mark it as #16. It’s a great parody of an asinine idiot responding overly-seriously to a humorous post. I especially love throwing in the concept that it’s all about “winning” or “losing.” Nice touch! ---
