He was truly The Son Of God.
If Jackson had acted like a teenager, he would have been less weird.
Yeah the first huge OMG celeb death that came to my mind was Elvis… which was well before my time… how big was that event? Or what were the reactions for his death?? The problem I keep having with trying to ponder and compare and contrast other deaths is the whole concept of ‘zeitgeist’… that even conflicts with comparing Cobain’s death (which i had actually forgotten about… whoops!)… I know the first thing I did when I heard about MJ was hit the web… not something I did in 94 to look up Cobain (who, I feel, did have a following however it was a relatively specific group of followers)… and definitely not something my parents did when it was annonced that Elvis has left the building… er… died rather.
Princess Diana and Mother Teresa were the next ones that came to my head. I just distinctly remembering how astonishing it was that 2 major internationally renown ‘saintly’ women died within days of each other. (Jeez I can’t believe that was twelve years ago already.) I remember thinking wow… now that was kind of messed up…! (But I suppose these last 10 days did make me gasp a little… with McMahon, Jackson, Fawcett, Mays, Malden… :: sigh::… death roll call… who else did I miss?.. ) (–total sidebar but did anyone catch that the oldest person in Europe recently died at 113!.. sheesh… I think I’d be bored by then.)
$%^&!!! WTF? no… its because she’s white… no!! wait its because she’s Jewish!!.. shoot… it IS because she is a woman. DAMNIT ALL.
god i love feminists sometimes.
I’m British too - he’s not as popular as Americans think; neither is Michael Jordan.
I used to live in downtown LA, near the Staples Centre, I used to see posters of Basketball players all the time, and I had no idea who most of them were.
Me and some Chinese co-workers were offered executive box tickets for free for a Lakers game - none of us were interested in going.
