Here’s a thought for another approach to **The College Football Belt** : Try to determine the quickest route it will take for **The Belt** to arrive in the possession of your favorite team or conference. Using the available schedules on the web try to find the quickest route from TCU to whichever team you’d love to see defending it. When was the last time your team had it – if ever? That can be determined pretty quickly at [http://collegefootballbelt.com/Seasons.htm](http://collegefootballbelt.com/Seasons.htm) and **Auburn** last had it and lost it to: ```auto Opponent Date Score Belt Record Auburn Coach @ Clemson 9/17/2011 24-38 12-5 Gene Chizik ``` ---

My team, Vanderbilt, has never held it. They tied Tennessee when the Vols were the holders in 1974, but that doesn’t get the job done. The fastest semi-plausible way for Vandy to get the belt would be for the winner of Baylor-TCU to go undefeated and reach the playoff (IMHO, Baylor has the better chance of doing so), Mississippi to win the playoff (!), and Vanderbilt to beat Mississippi in their 2015 game (normally near the beginning of the season, although Vandy has MTSU and WKU scheduled to start 2015). I’d guess most B1G/ACC/SEC/P12 shortest paths to the belt would look similar, with Mississippi replaced by a top team from their conference and/or division. ---

Baylor is the obvious choice. Ga Tech won the belt from Clemson 3 yrs ago and then lost it to Va Tech the next week. Baylor =\> FSU (in the playoffs) =\> Clemson (sometime early in 2015) =\> Ga Tech (Later in 2015) would be the quickest way for GT to get the belt. Ga Tech seldom plays FSU in the ACC. Different division. Not sure of the 2015 schedules but FSU/Clemson is usually early and Clemson/Ga Tech is typically a late October/early November game. There could be earlier chain of custodies to GT, but I think this is most likely of a bunch of unlikely scenarios. ---

One thing is for sure: there are going to be a lot of pissed off people if TCU beats Baylor! I do suspect the audience for that game may be among the largest of the day. That said, what are your own Top Five games to watch this coming weekend (Oct 10-12)? Right now I’m thinking: ```auto (2) Auburn @ (3) Mississippi St. (9) TCU @ (5) Baylor (3) Mississippi @ (14) Texas A&M (1) Florida St. @ Syracuse with one of these for #5: Washington St. @ (25) Stanford (7) Alabama @ Arkansas (13) Georgia @ (23) Missouri USC @ (10) Arizona Duke @ (22) Georgia Tech ``` Game times will likely influence that choice. ---
