Rush Limbaugh is a liar and a charlatan. He will twist facts or make them up whenever it suits him. He would sell his own mother if the price was right. He supports damn near everything many of us are against.

> [@Rush](#):
>
> But I think it’s also oriented as just humiliating and defeating Bush.

He deserves to be humiliated. He is a sniveling crave coward and is grossly incompetent. See below. He said “stay the course”. He used his latest “speech” to villify opposition. He still refuses to accept any blame for his own self made disaster.

> [@The Huffington Post](#):
>
> “There’s a lack of trust that the president has in Cheney and it’s connected with Iraq,” a source said.
> The sources said Mr. Bush has privately blamed Mr. Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for the U.S.-led war in Iraq. They said the president has told his senior aides that the vice president and defense secretary provided misleading assessments on Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction, as well as the capabilities of the regime of Saddam Hussein.
> As a result, the sources said, Mr. Cheney has been ousted from his role as the administration’s point man in the area of national security. They said presidential staffers have kept Mr. Cheney out of the loop on discussions on policy as the White House has struggled with the political and intelligence fallout from the war in Iraq.

Back to the “treason thing” again. Well I am all for walking up to Rush and handing him a draft notice. Sure. The way to show support is to kill more troops for a bad cause. Murtha is well known in Washington as one man the military can count on for honest support. Meanwhile, how’s it going with the VA benefit cuts, the curtailment of delayed stress treatment, body armor, etc.? The Bush Rumsfeld way is to “use the army you have, not what you wish you had”. In other words, don’t prepare, plan, or properly equip them. Just send them out with no plan, keep sending them back until they die, keep them from getting out - stop lost (backdoor draft) and then fuck them out of their benefits. No, Murtha was calling it the way it is. Meanwhile, let’s cut taxes for the rich guys.

> [@Rush](#):
>
> Their alternative is to quit. The Democrats are advocating quitting. The Democrats are advocating and investing in defeat, because to them, that’s victory.

As opposed to Bush’s so called “plan” which was so broad, so vague, so full of shit that the NY Times (among others) savaged it completely and asked that Bush somehow be returned to reality. Bush’s only “plan” is to stay the course until victory - the short version is just keep ignoring reality.

That’s all Limbaughs bullshit remarks deserve. That’s all you deserve for this so called OP, regurgitationg his vomit… vomit he pretty much plagiarized from Bush and Cheney.

Indeed. I thought some Audio commentary by Rush would be a nice springboard to a debate about Iraq–and also to the phenomenon of The Rush Limbaugh Show itself. I’m curious how this guys sentiment can be adhered to by so many when I think he uses every tactic in the book to avoid actual debate. I wanted to hear actual people debate these issues intead of just cringing in traffic as I make my way home.

From my angle, I believe this sheister should appologize to congressman Murtha for unfairly presenting what he (Murtha) actually said. I want to hear from conservatives that defend this line of thinking.

I think the audio file is a great way to introduce debate. I’m sorry if it’s not done more often.

Ah, and so you have (laid out your topic), then.

Or, assuming Mr. Limbaugh’s opinion is somehow fact, which I don’t, maybe it’s because they think there is real danger in the Middle East, and the current actions of the US are increasing rather than reducing that danger.

Apparently Rush would like to use the word “treason” in reference to Murtha as well but has decided he couldn’t quite get away with it.

I would like to hear some rational explanation why a decorated veteran of Korea and Viet Nam, and one of the most influential elected officials concerned with military matters, would suddenly up and decide, for purely partisan reasons, to “undermine the effort”. Sorry, doesn’t compute.

Ok, pretty weak response, I admit, but there’s really not all that much to hang one’s hat on. Limbaush and his ilk wish to portray all acts of the largest opposition party in as negative of terms as possible. Nothing particularly new here, although maybe it’s a bit more shrill than usual; I can’t tell.

Meh. I looked into this thread expecting something interesting and/or surprising – e.g., Rush now **supports** withdrawal from Iraq. (After all, a lot of other conservatives have gone over.) But this is all predictable. And, I think, says little on which any conservative or pro-war Dopers would care to hang their arguments for Staying the Course; the signal-to-noise ratio is too low. And is the “phenomenon” of Rush Limbaugh even worth discussing any more?

That picture’s frightening, but the one at the top of the page is even more so. Why on earth would a fat bald white man get a publicity phot taken with a cigar in his hand? Is there any bigger sterotype of the uncaring rich WASP? He might as well be lighting that cigar with a hundred dollar bill.

Perhaps finding more entertaining A.M. radio programming would snuff his shit out for good. Maybe re-brodcast survivor episodes, or start a non-stop knife selling infomercial.

Unfortunately this guy possibly has more influence on global affairs than most members of congress and certainly more than SD message posters.

Oh for Christ’s sake. Another Limbaugh thread? One in which he’s credited with more influence than Congress?!?

Little one, rest for a moment. Here’s a pillow. Now listen to me.

Rush is a radio talk-show host that entertains while offering his opinion. Much as any personality on Air America. Is he popular because of his veiws, or because of the content? There’s a debate in itself.

The truth is, Rush offers entertaining opinon, whether you “buy into it” or not.
A lot of people here will lump Savage in with the so-called “BushBots”. I’m guessing you’re one of them. But if anyone actually listened to the Savage Nation they’d know Savage is almost as ardently anti-Bush as Pelosi and Schumer. Savage a couple nights ago called on conservatives to vote independant, or avoid the polls altogether, if the GOP offers up a Bush clone. What a partisan!

Get a grip. You’re getting just as worked up over Rush as you accuse other’s of. Face it, you’re no different. Nor better.

> [@jocularjason](#):
>
> …especially in rural Military towns

So are you blaming rural residents, military, or rural military? One or both are to blame based on your words. You have a problem with one or both.

What aspect of media do you need silenced? Anything from the military or anything from rural folk. If they listen to it and follow it as Gospel, they must be stopped. I’ll give you an option of picking one over the other, but you don’t get a free pass on both.

As a resident of a city that has a major USAF base that an enlightened one such as yourself would consider rural, I’ll just say FUCK YOU and leave it at that. Grow up. Even I don’t take Rush for more than entertainment. Squirm all you want. It’s people like you that make even cenrtrist-Dems tune in for the laugh factor.
That quote is pissing me off so much I’m ending the post here.
