**Phaedrus** : Thank you for your response. I fear, however, that with your new proviso you are trying to lure me into a trap. Follow my reasoning, and see if you agree: Just as you consider your $10,000 offer binding on yourself, I consider my offer to share the money and to have **David B** party distribute it binding on me (the distribution would change, of course, if **David B** declined the job). I made mention of it when I first found the simulpost and reported it, I repeated the offer (and set some preliminary amounts) when I opened this thread, I confirmed it when I responded to **Clark K** and **David B**. If I abandon my commitment, than why should anything on this message board have any meaning at all? It would certainly mean that you could in turn abandon your commitment without any loss of face. Now, three interpretations of your proviso and the above paragraph occur to me: First, that you knew all this and tried to draw me into a trap. If so, good try but shame on you. Second, that you did not know all this, instead being focused on other things (but realize it now). If so, no shame to place anywhere. Third, that your view of my obligations differs from your view of your own. If so, shame on me, but please explain to me how. Now everything I’ve put in this post is true from my point of view. But let us ignore it for now anyway. That’s the language of lose-lose. Let’s talk win-win. You claim that you regret the “old man” persona from Flat Earth, and you have apologized to several people with differing degrees of acceptance. There are many on this board (I’d be lying if I said I weren’t among them to at least some extent) who still believe you not to be a person of your word. You have exacerbated things with your accusation against **Gaudere** , **andros** and **Clark K** ; the bad feelings you created with that will not go away even if you turn out to be correct. You know the saying: Money Talks, B_ **S** _ Walks. Fulfill your commitment, and allow me to fulfill mine. Then no one on this board (or anywhere else) will be able to claim that you do not stand up when the time comes. You will have an instant rebuttal if someone were to make such a claim. Manny – I say you should go ahead and promise not to give any of the $10,000 Phaedrus gives you to the rest of us. It would be worth it just to see him actually do it (ok, he won’t, but that’s beside the point). ---

Well, bonus points to David B and Gaudere for cooking up all this excitement for those of us at the Springfield meeting, but it really isn’t necessary. I think Omni and I drunk would have been entertaining enough. I’m thinking of moving the meeting place anyway, guys, so if either of you think that security really _will_ be a problem, let me know. Any further planning can be done through email. Personally, I don’t believe our crack former agent could find his own ass with both hands, a map, the spotlight from a “black helicopter” and an uplink from those secret geosynchronous satellites he’s spouted off about, but I’ll definitely respect your wishes. * * * He weathered a firestorm of agony and did not break. In the Cowardly P. thread, he was offerring 50-1 odds that Phaedrus cannot produce the evidence, and leaves the board (and never returns, even under another name). Hey, Elmer, I’m right here. As for the payoff on the 50-1 odds… Actually, I have complete, concrete evidence that Phaedrus is still around, posting under a different user name. This evidence would certainly stand in a court of law, but I’m not sure I’ll have the time to post it tonight. Oh, come on. You must have seen that coming. Anyways, we’ve had plenty of flakes/losers/trolls claim to be forever abandoning us, and then showing back up a few days later (sometimes with new names, sometimes not). I’m giving it a few more days before a start paying off on that bet. Suffice to say, though, if Phaedrus never comes back, while you and manny are the immediate winners, I think the entire board is the long-time winner. * * * JMCJ This could be YOUR sig line!
