**John Corrado** : You’re right, and I apologize. I read your comments following the thread hijacking about which I teased some of the other posters in this thread. My “I’ll turn this thread around” was a lighthearted continuation of **Flypsyde** ’s exhortation to return the thread to its subject lest “ **manny** reaches into the backseat and wallops us.” But you weren’t part of that, so there’s no reason you should have made the connection. Sorry again. **Everyone else** : On advice of counsel, my “proposal” in this thread is closed. Please read further or email me for more detail. **Phaedrus** : I have consulted with counsel on this issue. Although it pains me to be unable to share the money as I had hoped (and my spirit was not as malevolent as my phrasing on that subject), I accept in a general sense your condition that I not share the proceeds with other board members. However, I cannot of course agree to the exact language of your earlier post that “NO ONE on this board receive a single penny and have the paperwork use language that not only will expressly forbid you from handing out money to other members but will include a fine well in excess of $10,000.00 if you do.” I understand that you posted that in some haste and probably don’t mean it exactly as you said it, but just in case I’ll ask you to rethink how you phrase that. Here’s why: I cannot forbid myself the opportunity to engage in any financial transaction (whether by gift or otherwise) with 4,000 strangers. I have bought dinner for some of the New York crowd (no one in this present controversy), and may do so again (although next time, _they’re_ buying!). I may engage in transactions with members of this board who _are_ involved in the present controversy on issues unrelated to the matter at hand. Most importantly, I may in the future engage in a transaction with a member in the course of my employ, with or without knowledge that the person is a member here. If my employers (or regulators, for that matter) found out that I had agreed to such a thing, the loss to me would far exceed $10,000. Indeed, because of the nature of my work, it is quite possible that I am _already_ involved in financial dealings with one or more members, however indirectly. So when you have your attorneys draw up the papers, please reinforce your statement that “The instructions will be simple and will not include anything unreasonable on your part. I will not set up all kinds of hoops for you to jump through.” I can only be prohibited from sharing the proceeds of the Challenge, and that absent a specific reference to the Challenge, the assets become co-mingled with mine and then become as disposable as any of my assets. Since my email server seems to be spotty (that’s the most charitable term I can use), please feel free to post here. I give up some privacy that way, but it reinforces your view that the net is (or ought to be) every bit as real as other forms of communication. In addition, please let me know whether you prefer to complete the transaction by wire or by check (You said “cash” but I know you meant the UCC sense as opposed to the currency sense). Does this mean I don’t get any cash? You all should know how much time _I_ spent “debating” that loon, **Phaedrus** I admit that he had me fooled for a while there, but I realized that he had no intention of EVER posting real evidence against evolution on the Flat Earth thread. I kept replying because folks like **Phaedrus** think that if you don’t reply, they’ve won the battle. And if you look at the Flat Earth thread again, it was one of my postings that caused him to reply as **KGB**. (I’d post a link if I could find the damn thread again!) BTW, on 1-18-2000, at 6:37PM, **Phaedrus** tells us that his real name is Ken Beacon. Do you think his middle name might be George or Gregory or Geoff or something? Actually, Ken/ **Phaedrus** , I think you should just walk away. Even posting your opus is not going to give you closure, so what is the point? You will post some essay attempting to express your views on electronic communities, paying particular attention to this one. In the normal flux of this environment, there will be a mixed bag of reactions, wandering through complete agreement, agreement with reservations, partial agreement, general disagreement with individual points noted, complete disagreement, and total dismissal of you as well as your position. So there will be no final “nailed down” closure on that point. You may actually attempt to prove the oneness of Gaudere/andros/ClarkK. Judging by your earlier efforts in other threads, I doubt that you will wind up proving that to anyone’s satisfaction but your own, either. (In the “Flat Earth. . .” your final “proof” was a simple assertion that _you_ couldn’t accept Darwinism. Your “neural network” assertion seemed to come from mid-air and was neither established nor defended against various questions raised against it. Your “lower species do it _once_” was not established, much less defended. (You presented clinal evidence of genetic drift, but never addressed the issue that Darwinian modification was not present in your bird examples, somewhat negating your insistence that we provide similar examples in mammals.)) All in all, I suspect that the only way you will get closure will be if you do post one final, sweeping summary, then go away and pretend that no one was able to respond to you. Anything else is going to drag all this out to no purpose except the general amusement of some and irritation of others. Now, _I_ don’t care if you actually choose to stay (although you had a few _really_ strange posts last week), but you have now established a persona on this MB that is going to stick with you. Either choose to live with that persona, or walk away quietly and shake our dust from your feet. The rest of this stuff is just posturing. (And, yes, I recognize that there has been posturing on both sides, but you are the one who keeps claiming to have been injured, other posters just seem to be irritated.) * * * Tom~ ---

For example, if someone is getting personal information from my ISP, I want to know about it so I can raise hell with them. 1. of course, it could be a smokescreen. Phaedrus never had any hard evidence and is using a misinterpretation of Ed’s request to bail out of having to demonstrate his evidence. Proof of the first will certainly disprove the latter. And if I don’t see any resolution to the first, I’ll have to assume the latter is true. Ken, please, I know you have my email address. Send me your reasons and evidence and we can try to clear up this misaprehension. -andros- ---

Andros, the misunderstanding was totally mine. After reviewing my “evidence” it became appallingly clear that you are not anyone else. I should have looked closer. I will be talking about where I got my evidence (with out referring to any one person in particular) in my last post, which I am still writing. I made a fool out of myself when I accused you of being someone else. I was wrong and I am sorry. I know you and I didn’t have the best of times around here but after reviewing my evidence and taking a long hard look at myself I changed my mind about you. You can be pretty abrasive at times and I certainly didn’t help you there. There is no need to e-mail each other. Please forgive me for being such a jerk.
