How about Amy Klobuchar, the less-famous senator from Minnesota?

She and I went to college together! Same year! I never held her head while she was drunkenly retching into a toilet. I never needed to talk her down from a bad acid experience. I never banged her, either. That fshe didn’t associate with me, a drug-addled hippie/Wobbly studying obscure 19th century literature and art that often bordered on the pornographic, shows that she is clearly a person of sterling merit and high moral acumen.

I was just going to post the same name here (she’s my senator). She’s popular, thoughtful, and productive. She is 55 years old so getting up there based on the OP.

> Preet Bharara seems to be taking the same path that put Rudy Giuliani in the governor’s mansion (except that he’s a Democrat). He’ll probably end up as attorney general in the next Democratic presidential administration; he’s not a natural-born citizen, so he won’t be POTUS.

> However, to me the future of the party begins and ends with Cory Booker. The Castros seem like nice guys, but they just don’t have _it_. Kirsten Gillibrand is too centrist, and Steve Bullock is from the middle of fucking nowhere.

Bharara’s attacks on free speech (see his **Reason** magazine attack) is worrisome.

> Tammy Duckworth will likely be the next Senator from Illinois, she’s 47. Perhaps the keynote speaker for 2016 Democratic convention, especially if Iran/ISIS and national security are still big Republican talking points

That depends on what Tammy Duckworth would actually want to say if she was put in that position. The last time Duckworth spoke on Iraq in a high profile situation, she essentially endorsed the President’s “As they stand up, we’ll stand down” strategy in different words:

> [@](#):
>
> Her strategic recommendations included requesting an immediate accounting by the U.S. Secretary of Defense of the readiness level and the training of the Iraqi forces, followed by aggressive benchmarks for progress and redeployment of U.S. troops linked to the stand-up of Iraqi troops, saying the U.S. should proceed by standing-down a defined number of U.S. units for every Iraqi battalion that can be properly trained and certified as combat-ready

I’ve never known Duckworth to be a dove. She seems firmly in the Hillary Clinton hawk camp.
