I’ve heard chatter today about Vance being dropped. Supposedly Trump doesn’t like him. The news shows said that he’s got the lowest approval ratings since 1980. ---

With all due respect to both of you, Donald Trump considers himself beyond looking ridiculous (parodied in _Succession_ by Shiv proclaiming “we don’t get embarrassed), in some twisted understanding of the Nietzschean Ubermensch. J.D Vance may find himself dumped for not fulfilling Trump’s magical thinking expectation that he will deliver the white working class, just as Omarosa was somehow expected to deliver Black America to Trump, while all us lesser mortals went “huh? How’s that supposed to work?” And just like Hitler in the bunker blaming the Germans, Trump will cry “I believed in you, but you didn’t believe in yourself, so you deserve this!” ---

For the avoidance of doubt, “Rep. Jack Kimble” is a parody account (if you look at his bio he lists himself as “co-sponsor of Poe’s Law”). The real comedy is all the reactions from people who haven’t noticed. (If you like that sort of thing, I also recommend Rosie Holt and Sir Michael Take as British equivalents. Holt in particular is disturbingly good at this.) ---

Ideally, Vance would be Trump’s “beard” towards the creepy parts of the Party. Don doesn’t really care about Project 2025. He’ll back it 100% to help himself, but Vance makes him seem Project-curious and therefore more palatable, the same way Pence did for evangelicals.
