If he’s really a drag I see Trump seeing replacing him in positive terms: doing it during or right after the Democratic convention to try to gain possession of the news cycle. ---

Mountain Dew is a dog whistle. It’s huge in Appalachia, and takes its name from a slang for moonshine. Vance has been talking about how he loves diet Mountain Dew, and he doesn’t care that he might get attacked for that from the left. (I learned this from a professor on Smerconish show this morning). ---

As much as regular mountain dew is great, Diet Mountain Dew tastes like Crystal Light lemonade that’s gone bad. Except for the taste, I don’t think drinking diet will hurt him. There are plenty of fitness fans with wacky right wing beliefs these days. ---
