# Who Would You Choose as Your Best Friend?

I received two seasons of Scrubs for Christmas and another two for my birthday last month so I have been watching a lot of it, lately. I love the show and it’s probably my favorite series that Joss Whedon didn’t create. Though the comedy is the chief reason I watch it, I also love the relationship dynamics and really love JD and Turk’s friendship, which is the best example of storge I can think of.
Though it’s often played for laughs that there might be something deeper to their relationship, I don’t get that impression at all and it’s obvious to me that they just love each other as the best friends one can possibly be and I find myself really, really wanting a Turk of my own. He just strikes me as the perfect friend.

Hmm…I’m torn. once I’d have said Willow Rosenberg in a heartbeat (as a friend with or without benefits), but after about season 4 or so, I wouldn’t trust her. Definitely no one from Scrubs, save maybe Carla; they show is amusing, but they’re all horrible, horrible people (except, again, Carla).

Turk’s a bit of a man-child (which is one of the things I find so endearing about him) but don’t see how he is a horrible person. I do agree that everyone on the show that doesn’t have his surname’s at least somewhat broken, though.
And since you brought it up, I’m asking about \*\*platonic \*\*friends here. I may like dudes and do think Donald Faison is pretty cute but if we’re talking about getting naked, there’re dozens of people in front of him.

Kaylee would be an \*awesome \*friend, but I still have to go with Diana Barry. She’s my ideal - enough of a follower that I get to be the alpha, but enough spunk to back me up, and funny and intelligent enough to spend lots of time with. Plus, she can put back the currant wine like nobody’s business. 😃

Ha, I was about to come in here and say Anne. Diana would be good too, maybe we could be a triad. I spent half my teenage years reading those books! (And I’m reading the first one to my own little girl right now, she loves it.)
I do like Kaylee a lot though. And at one time I would have picked Poly O’Keefe (I _was_ Meg without the genius, so no need for her!).
And of course there’s always Lizzie Bennett. Emma’s too snobby, Catherine’s too young, Fanny’s too shy. Elinor would be a very good friend, but Marianne is irritating. Anne Elliott is nice too.
Gonna have to go with Anne though.

James Bond. So that if and when something ever happened to me, I’d have someone who’d go on a rampage to avenge my death. That’s oddly comforting, somehow.

If you’re going to think like that, why not choose the Kents’ boy, CJ? He doesn’t have to go on rampages, as he always shows up in the nick of time.

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve wanted to have Jo March (from _Little Women_) as a best friend. When I was a youngster I had imaginary tea parties, and I always set a place for Jo. She never showed up, so I ate her biscuits and drank her tea.

Assuming normal people, same sex it would be Malcolm Reynolds from Serenity / Firefly. Opposite sex is a bit more tricky, given that we’re talking about platonic friends, else I’d go for one of Charlie’s Angels. I think I’d go for Judi Dench’s M.

Easy one. Dirk Gently, proprietor of the Holistic Detective Agency.
I envision him as Stephen Fry in tan tweeds and a sort of Italian cleric’s hat, blood red with a flat brim, mounted on gimbals so it’s always dead level. He would be maddening yet fascinating, and always make you think.

Two problems:
1. Tony already has a best friend who’d like to do Jeanie, and he’s not going for it; and
2. Jeanie’s not hot to trot in general; she’s hot FOR TONY. Trying something with her is mroe dangerous than offering to show Frodo Baggins your pointy hat trick when Sam is RIGHT THERE.

I would pick two characters for two completely different reasons.
One: Laura Ingalls Wilder. She taught me to love the written word and I think she and I would have a great time going to antique malls where she hopefully would educate me about antiques. 🙂
Two: The Vampire Lestat. Hey, I wouldn’t mind seeing the places in the world and US that he has seen. I would love to hear him sing, too. Of course, it would be a short lived friendship…I think I might end up his dinner. :smack:
