See, IIRC they state somewhere in TOS that Spock is the first Vulcan serving in Starfleet, and that his dad was angry he didn’t join the Vulcan Academy and staff one of their science vessels. I guess I must have assumed a ship full of Vulcans couldn’t be a Starfleet ship, and was therefore a Vulcan Science Academy ship. ---

It’s not bad. A funny part of it is that he has a fortune in back pay and a _huge_ seniority edge over every other living captain, due to being stuck in a time loop for decades. ---

Anyone but Kate Mulgrew. Her voice was so high and nasally that every time I heard it I would find myself mimicking it by saying “follow the yellow brick road” over and over again. And my God that link to Bujold was awful. Besides, everyone knows you can’t put the French in charge of a vessel. How would they know which way to throw their phasers when there is no gravity?
