Gretchen Whitmer, she has experiance in dealing with gun nuts and crazy people trying to kidnap her. She would drive the RW nut jobs, well nuts. I value foreign policy experience more than most here, I think. I don’t believe Americans truly appreciate that how we stand in the world greatly affects how we live at home. I’m also not enamored of youth for youth’s sake in office. Give me the mature, experienced dog every time. In our current situation, I’d probably pick Chris Murphy. He’s young, smart and religiously unaffiliated. I’d want him to work on his climate change policies, though. ---

I’ll third Gretchen Whitmer for all the reasons you mention. And BTW, the SNL skit was not really a dig, it was very sympathetic to Whitmer (ok, it did kinda portray Michigan as a woodsy backwater). Someone not eleventy billion years old, for sure. Tammy Duckworth was my first thought; Gretchen Whitmer sounds good as well. Maybe even Pete Buttigieg, though I think he’s been a little bit of a disappointment so far. What I’d really like to see is a round-up of younger, spirited Democratic candidates all fight hard (but reasonably civilly, not eviscerating each other) for the nomination with lots of substantive debates where they challenged each other’s platforms and demonstrated their experience and mastery of policy. Then, I’d choose the one I thought was best from that group. (Yes, I know, it’s a fantasy that will never happen.) ---

There was a day not long ago when suggesting someone like Dolly would have garnered nothing but scoffs, but the fact that she’s probably magnitudes smarter than PAB, and would actually try to do her best (I’m just guessing) makes her uber viable. ---
